My DS is Robert and I shortened his name to Robby to make it easier for him. We still have to work with him on remembering how to spell the middle name though. |

Ain't that the truth. I grew up with a long Polish name that no one ever pronounces. Except one science teacher who got it right, and I almost fell out of my chair. Anyway, my first name is Hope. But with the way the attendance sheet was set up, it was last name first, but only so many letters so my name was always
longpolishnameHop
The class would get quite the giggle whenever we had a substitute, because it was always the same. Long pause, cock of the head, another long pause, very small voice...Hop? And the class would roar in laughter.

| jnemo Thu 10/2/2008 3:32p | Congratulations on Baby Boy Moseley! How about Elias Moseley? As someone said try out the name and think how he will feel in high school with that name. I believe both my daughters were not happy as they got older with there names as there are so many people with the same name they have. Both names were the #1 name for girls the years they were born. |

>>For example I like the name Aaron but to Doobie that's Erin and he doesn't what to choose a name that can be used by either gender.<<
Here in Australia, "Aaron" and "Erin" are pronounced quite differently. I always thought it was interesting that they sound so similar over there! |

| gottaluvdavillains Thu 10/2/2008 5:45p | One thing about shortening the name - Our boys are Joshua - goes by - Josh Zachary - goes by - Zach Richard - goes by - Richard
From the time Richard was little he hated to be called Rich or Rick. Don't know why but he decided that at about 2. So you should like the long and short versions.
