yep, that's all I'm sayin' -- I'm Ok with it too - paying for more stuff...

nothing is getting cheaper in the world right now - can't expect the parks to be either

Sadly, joe schmo wants cheap - and they ruin it for the rest of us. I was wearing a Dixie Landings shirt the other day, it has far outlasted many of the shirts I have bought in the last 8 years. I am tired of products being dumbed down across the piece (not just WDW). Sure, things may be getting cheaper, but boy, the value is not what it once was.

I support a price that is justified by the quality I receive. Lately the price has continued to increase. I think a person has to be blinded by Pixie Dust to see the quality has not reciprocated. That is at all levels of the entertainment process of the entire Resort. I know it sounds like sour grapes to some people, but it definetly is something I can see with my own two eyes. Less of everything with price increases every year. We only see the bargains when WDW gets in a finacial hum. However, we do not see an increase in the quality of their offerings. They throw us a bone every now an then, but we are definetly already paying for that with the price increase, while more of the enjoyable things are eliminated.

Sadly I took advantage of a bargain offer in 2006. Based on my experience I am disinclined to take them up again on their offers. I still have to pay airfare, and as a result, I would prefer to spend it on a flight to LAX, or Tokyo or indeed multiple trips to Paris. Heck, I am more likely to opt for Hong Kong due to my disappointment last time.

<Less of everything with price increases every year.<

you mean kinda like groceries ( smaller sized packages and more expensive) - clothes ( more cheaply made and more expensive ) - etc.

not to be mistaken for me giving them a pass - far from it....it agree with your statement..it's just everything we purchase every day is virtually the same.

For those nice custom items we like ( golf clubs / certain cars / college tuition for our kids etc- the rate of increase has been staggering.

I will agree though- that to pay 'significantly' more - which is likely what would be required - better translate to getting a return in rides/entertainment etc.

I priced WDW latest offering of bargains due to the recession. I can basicly get the same number of days at Wilderness Lodge with a courtyard view as I paid for a water view at the real Port Orleans 10 years ago. I would be happy to pay rack rate if I felt I was getting the quality experience in maintanence, cleanliness, and entertainment offerings that Disney is more than capable of.

As it was, before the last trip, I always said I would wait until my kids were older. But then when the bargain came out, I looked at the draws that had been built since my previous trip:

Exped E - (never did see the yeti - it was dark)
Finding Nemo Musical - nicely staged, dull show not to my taste
Primeval Whirl and Tric Spin (let's move on shall we?)

LMA - I do love this, but for some reason prefer Paris' original version
One Man's Dream - I loved LOVED this at least.
HSM - same as Paris

The Seas with Nemo and friends - cute, and a refresh was needed, shame it was toons. And the Angler fish was broken
Turtle Talk - this was very cool, though I am glad we can now see Stitch in DLP
Soarin' - awesome as always - glad I knew this one well after our trips to DCA
Imagination V3 - we quite liked this, it was better than V2
Mission Space - Hmmmmm, too scared to ride the normal version due to high BP, found the softer version quite dull and missed Horizons.
Wonders of China - this film was a lovely upgrade

MK - Stitch Encounter (not as bad as everyone made out)

And we were really excited to stay at the new AKL (lovely hotel and facilities - though service was subpar and the bus service was woefully inadequate).

Now though, this list is quite long. However, sadly they either broke down or did not impress. And then add the fact that the menus had been cut down and bookings for restaurants hard to come by, most of the classics in the MK were in desperate need of refurb, the MK was filthy, and everywhere was super crowded and yet queuelines were not used properly and many attractions, shops and restaurants had flexible hours.

There were some fantastic moments too, but the negatives really did outweigh the experience making it feel very much overpriced. Very frustrating.

Personally I would have liked to have had these things rectified and paid a higher price. I would have been a far happier guest.

Sadly that is very true. I have never minded paying for quality. I either have the money or I save for it. If it is out of reach I will only dream about it then. Everyone loves a bargain that's human nature. However a bargain is defined as receiving the same merchandise or offerings for less. It certainly isn't a bargain to receive less for more or lower quality at lower prices.

I forget Dave what month of the year was your trip to hell.

Hell is a little strong, but as a lifelong Disney fan, it did shake me a lot. Thankfully my trips since then to DL and DLP have met/exceeded my expectations.

It was the two weeks after thanksgiving. USed to be the slow period, but between POP Warner and the filming of the Christmas Parade, it seemed anything but.
