>>>Universal certainly looks like THE place to be in a couple of years time! Certainly more appealling than Walt DVC World.<<<

If you are 14 - 40 maybe. But not for us. Also, I think Harry Potter is a totally overrated franchise (I enjoyed the 1st 3 books) and most of the offerings sound frankly like they will have real capacity throughput issues (I hope I am wrong). Also they have wrecked my favorite part of IOA for this.

As for coasters, I can ride coasters here in Europe, I don't have to fly 3000 miles for them. and what the hell does a coaster have to do with movies or marine biology. I am a theme park fan 1st and foremost, so these additions seem vulgar to me.

On the HP series. Wow do you seem to have serious issues with the popularity of the series. Before you mentioned how you stopped reading it because Harry was acting like a snot. You do understand how the standard hero myth works, right? Where the hero starts out a reluctant innocent, gets snotty when he realizes his fated task, then rises to the challenge to be the hero.
And please explain the throughput issues you are concerned with. Since only one of the 3 new attractions is actually a ride. The 5 attractions in TWWoHP are a rethemed Flying Unicorn, Rethemed Dueling Dragons, The new robocoaster attraction, A special effects heavy "magic" show, and the HP interactive scavenger hunt, which I predict will he the sleeper hit of the land. It is a shame to lose The Enchanted Oak, but I think it will be worth it.
As far as I know they are actually losing very little of the Lost Continent. Mythos, Posiden's Fury and Sinbad all appear to be staying. Only a small part of the LC will be changing to HP. Just the part from the little courtyard where the Enchanted Oak/ Dueling Dragons entrance is back to Flying Unicorn. The only themed elements being lost are The Enchanted Oak, The big Dragon Statues and that small Dueling Dragons gift shop called The Dragons Keep.

>>>Wow do you seem to have serious issues with the popularity of the series.<<<

Probably because of:

a) The books seem to rip off virtually every fantasy/myth story I read as a boy and are clumsy about how they are weaved together (ulike let's say Star Wars, where things are put into a very different context).

b) Yes, Harry's behaviour shows he has lost who he is and what made him great in the 1st place. then again, I always found the Weasley's to be the interesting characters.

c) I really dislike J K Rowlings premadonna behaviours.

As for the throughput, I am concerned with the Kuka arm to have the capacity issues of say Peter Pan's Flight (I hope I am wrong). And with the Scavenger hunt, they have something very similar that opened at Chessington World of Adventures here in the UK (it was a HP attraction in all but name) that has hour long waits (has been up to 3) on the quietest days and is so slow to move through, in the end they gave it an age range where you are able to use it (no really little ones and no adults) to try to reduce the waits. I am worried HP land will be like this.

I also felt like Lost Continent was perfect except for the Flying Unicorn. And I love the Duelling Dragons queue line which would need to be altered to fit in with HP. Who knows, I might be pleasantly surprised. But I certainly do not think this will unthrone WDW sadly. God knows WDW needs a fire lit under them.

I think I'll start another thread over in the Other Theme park section to continuing discussing TWWoHP.

Sounds like a good plan.

My picks for classic attractions of the last 15 years. Everest and Tower of Terror. Rock N Roller Coaster could be (Disney please do not turn it into Rock N Roller Coaster with the Jonas Brothers). Mickey's Philarmagic, It's Tough to Be A Bug are both classics. Mission Space and Test Track, I like them, they're fun but I don't consider them classics just very good. But the crown jewel in the parks the last fifteen years has been Festival of the Lion King. I just think it's a phenomenal show.

Wow, I would consider Festival of the Lion king mediocre at best. Different strokes. Maybe it has gotten better since 2000. we didn't bother in 2006 because we were so underwelmed in 2000 and love the Lion King and Tarzan shows at DLP!

Then again although Phil and ITTBAB, I don't see them being around for 40 years either.

<- The quelines for Buzz and It's a Small World particularly stand out as being full of trash (remember when they used to send sweepers through the queue lines?).<

The Buzz line always seems to be a mess for whatever reason

Interestingly enough, the same thing is happening in the Buzz queue in DL. I noticed last night that there are a couple places where there are large spots where the paint has been peeled off (1-2 sq ft), leaving a very white patch in the middle of the bright blue or green. The 'bolts' holding the pictures on the walls are all very worn, and are very clearly not metal looking any more, as they are at just the right level for people to brush them with their shoulders as they walk past. There was even a chunk of flooring missing near the Buzz AA. I don't think I would have remembered it, but it just sounded too much like the Buzz queue in WDW, which I remember being terrible when I was there in 2004 (dirty, peeling paint, mold on the ceiling).

>> Then again Mr X came back from his trip telling us we have all been wrong. So it may have been a blip, I trust his judgement in the main. <<

It's all in the timing. One year we went, and the longest wait we had for a bus or a boat was 10 minutes. That includes a couple of trips to DD. Had that been my only trip to WDW I would have thought they had the best transportation system in the world. I forgot about your young Children Dave. I can see where that is an issue for a lot of folks. Do they get the summer months off like here in the States?
