While a Bugatti, and a Kia are both automobiles they are worlds apart. That is the concept I am trying to get across.

<Space and Science Fiction are taken with the offerings in Tomorrowland and Undersea Adventure is either already taken with either Nemo ride or about to be with TLM.

I'm not trying to be smart just playing devil's advocate, all of the broad themes seem to be taken. It must make it harder for imagineering to be original?!!!<

nope- didn't take you that way -- however I think those genre's have room for more than 1 attraction.

different ride systems, immersions -- i,e, Matterhorn and EE

I think I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure I'm getting your point.

Mission:Space and Space Mountain are both themed around space exploration, but that doesn't make them the same.

The execution is different, but the theme is the same so regardless of whatever new technology comes along if they decide to add an attraction based on space using it it's a theme they've already used.

Am I missing your point?!!!

<I really do wonder if they have some unbias opinions coming in like that. I guess they rely completely on their surveys that are worded in a way to come out good, no matter what the guest experience may be.>

<In June, they surveyed one of my daughters, the blunt one who doesn't sugarcoat anything. Maybe she'll post here.>

I think I'm very sweet! you make me sound mean. he he he
Anyway the survey was miserably long and I quickly discovered I have adult a.d.d.
They ask mostly friendliness type questions and then for every question you had to give an example. There were a couple of transportation questions, where I cried about getting more monorail access. and just one or two questions about cleanliness at the parks but our past trip was fairly clean, then it ask about the resorts and cast members behavior and such, I also told them the animal towels are fun way to end your day. My sons towel bunny is named Biscuit but that I wish there was something fun for us to find every night, I know some out there think its lame but whatever its fun to find, one night we got back and all my sons disney stuffed anmals were hanging off the fans, lights and even the curtain rods. He and I loved it. Anyway the whole survey took over an hour and really was a bit of BS (sorry Ma). If anyone has ever taken the stanton survey its the same. Same questions differant wordings. When I finished I got the feeling that the results they wanted they'd get no matter how a persons trip went. They did have questions about the year of a million dreams. It asked if I, anyone in my party or I noticed anyone around me win something. Well it was kind of hard not to notice someone at some point have won something. though I did notice it was usually a family of 4 and we are only 3, I know theres a happy haunt (you stink) out there that got alot of the free stuff because that seems to be who Disney is trying market to. Even the commercials are usually mom, dad and 2 kids. Well I like a quieter house ones enough for me. Over all the survey was weak long but weak. At the end you could sum up your trip in only 3 lines. and throughout the survey they didn't want opinions just examples of why you answered (scale of 1-5) the way you did.

Back in the late 80s when I went on my Disney Cruise..... I saw what I believed was a trend by Disney to create an "all inclusive vacation experience". It appeared to me then that Disney definately wanted to be more than just ( at the time ) three amusement parks.

I think Disney learned from that and began looking at the weakest link, so to speak. Disney Corp built more resorts primarily value resorts. Disney also built WL and AKL and called them Deluxe accomidations that in reality are lower priced and offer fewer amenities than other Deluxe accomidations on property. Disney Corp began building water parks, a nigh club district, greater shopping alternatives outside the parks and of course the DVCs.

In the most recent years Disney Corp has completely implimented a new state of the art resevation desk. All in all Disney Corp has spent a tremendous amount of money improving resevations, transportation and accomidations of property. Oh, did I mention the cruise ships?

Disney Corp has definately accomplished their goal in creating an all inclusive vacation package for every price range. Disney Corp more than likely has not seen the need to dramatically improve the rides/ attractions in their parks as park attendence has not dropped. They simply don't need to invest money there.

Furthermore, when you are on WDW property you can't help but see all the finished DVC contruction as well as NEW DVC construction going on. WDW is not stale by any means.

C-Queen, we were surveyed this year also. It was worthless. They stopped us getting off a ride and asked how the CMs did their jobs and asked us to rate them. It's impossible to rate someone you saw for maybe 3 seconds as they wave you throucgh or point to the ride vehicle. Like you I thought the survey format was wrong. It didn't really allow for free discussion. I found it to be a waste of time.
