| DVC_dad Tue 11/11/2008 9:00p | I have been to DL only 4 times since Indy was built. One of those 4 times it was closed for repair.
I have been to DAK ... OMG! I lost count a couple years ago at well over 30 semi-annual (every 6 months or so) times at least...over the course of many years since Dinosaur (used to be Countdown To Extinction) was built, heck since the park was built for that matter.
Hold on to your hat....
I have NEVER EVER NOT ONE SINGLE TIME EVER known Dinosaur to be closed, ever.
not once. |

One reason Dinosaur is never shut down is because it has 1% of the effects that Indy does. What's going to break down in Dinosaur, the pitch black darkness?
Another reason Dinosaur is never shut down is because WDW doesn't repair many effects that break. Seems like there are some pteurodactyls in the ride that no longer swoop down, for instance?
Gotta love Disney on the cheap. Especially when you're paying thousands for it. |

| Spirit of 74 Wed 11/12/2008 3:24p | Dino may not go down perse, but it is operating now with many effects inoperable.
Worse, when I was there recently, CMs were clueless on how to load/unload properly so folks were either missing the 'dramatic' ending ... or having it and then sitting there like the ride had gone 101 because there were backups at dispatch ... either way it was very bad show.

| FerretAfros Wed 11/12/2008 3:47p | There are plenty of problems at DL with Indy, even when it is running. On Monday night, it seemed like about half of the lights in the main room were turned off. It was very dark and tough to see, but it kind of added to the mystery of the attraction. When we got to the part where we stall, we sat there in total darkness (no blue spot light on the rafia this time) for about twice as long as usual. Even with that, the rats still didn't have enough fog to get a convincing projection. At the very beginning, the door looked like we were getting "eternal riches" but the room behind it was definately the "fountain of youth."
As for loading, we ended up with only two people in the front row of our car, and three in the back, with nobody in the middle row. That may not seem all that bad, but the line was almost an hour long, most of which was outside, due to the way that FP works there.
While I have no doubt that WDW has its problems too, these are just a couple things that came to mind as differences in the last trip alone. Over the years, I feel like we've lost a lot more effects that most people don't even remember. |
