| AutoPost Fri 11/14/2008 3:44p | This topic is for Discussion of Latest: Classic Disney coming to iTunes...
We've heard the following titles will be coming soon to iTunes... New Releases Italiannette (BV 3304) Remastered from the original 3 track Master Annaette Sings Anka (BV 3302). Remastered from the original full track Master Westward Ho the Wagons (WDL 3041). Remastered from the original full track Master Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House (DQ 1257). This is the original White-Cover release, with side one narration by Laura Olsher, and was remastered from the original full track master. Previously Released on the WONDERLAND MUSIC CD BURNING SYSTEM Meet Me Down On Main Street, A Musical Tour of France with Maurice Chevalier, Songs from Lady and the Tramp, The Disney Afternoon, The Country Bear Jamboree PLUS A VERY SPECIAL TITLE -- THE FIRST CLASSIC DISNEY SOUNDTRACK PREMIERE ON iTUNES -- AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!! Walt Disney presents 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack When you purchase this title, you can also download a Digital Booklet with behind-the-scenes photos, and illustrations. There's a wonderful essay by composer John Debney, as well as a brief Producers Note outlining the background of the project. Its taken over 10 years to get this released, and it was definitely worth the wait!

Incidentally, the heralded 20,000 Leagues Booklet download available on iTunes appears to be damaged and should be looked into. |

Companies like Collectables and Collectors Choice Music seem to be doing fine with CD reissues of relative obscurities (especially two-fers). Collectables just does flat transfers of the master tapes, slaps a cover on them, and they apparently make money. Their catalog is enormous! http://www.oldies.com I keep sayin' (though not necessarily on this board) - remasters are not necessary with this stuff. In fact, they're often counterproductive.
The Annette material would make FANTASTIC two-fers. And I'd buy 'em! |

That said, I can't really understand what the downside would be to having your music available on iTunes.
Who in the world has purchased 'Westward Ho the Wagons' in the last 25 years? And where would you find it? As an LP in some thrift shop somewhere? |

None - except that the sound quality is inferior to CD. |

WAAAAY overfiltered. The transients are gone. That wouldn't be CD quality even on CD. Never mind. |

| JeffG Fri 11/14/2008 8:48p | The "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" soundtrack has actually been available on iTunes for several months now.
I really want to buy it, but have resisted because Disney is still insisting on only offering their albums as low bit-rate DRM crippled tracks instead of in the higher-quality, unrestricted "iTunes Plus" format.

| gmontag451 Fri 11/14/2008 10:10p | I had to upgrade to iTunes Plus to get the (broken) 20k digital booklet, so I had high hopes the music would be encoded in iTunes Plus's higher-quality format. It wasn't. Still, I feel I've supported the album towards one day getting a better treatment (which I will need to pay for once again, ah well.) However I still listen to my bootleg instead. Sad when the bootleg is better quality than a legit release. |

I wish someone could persuade Disney to compile all of Hayley's recrodings and make a nice box set, and include some new material such as the songs she performed on the stage in the musicals, The King and I, Trelawney of the Wells, The Card, and A Little Night Music. It sure would be a treasure for all of Hayley's fans. She had such a unique and beautiful, not to mention lovely voice, and it is long overdue for a complete set of music from Hayley! |
