| Spirit of 74 Thu 11/27/2008 10:28p | OK, I try not to post anything until I get multiple confirms from people I trust.
I do selfishly so I don't look like a fool and/or have to retract something later.
And I tend to abuse minions, MPierce will show you the bruises, when I have to admit to being wrong in public.
That said, even though I only have one source to go with here, I have a very strong hunch so with that said ... Flamingo Crossings is dead. Put a fork in it.
At least in the grandiose plans Disney (i.e Jay and Al) had for it.
According to my source, a lot of dirt has been moved around but that's it because Disney hasn't gotten folks to sign on the dotted line since (in case anyone missed it) the economy has collapsed.
This is the same reason why The Site Formerly Known as Pleasure Island might be redeveloped with a food court and lots of greenery and little else for the forseeable future as well.
Disney simply can't get the third parties they covet to commit to anything right now ... and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.
Anyone here know more?

What's this "Flamingo" plan?..hadn't heard about it. |

Now as someone who has done this, it involved visiting the parks and looking on line at what people are saying. Well WDW is not exactly pulling in the glowing reviews. And the pipeline of bookings are weakening. This is not a surprise at all. |

So they finally figured out that Joe 6 Pack is broke and there is excess capacity on I-Drive that would result in a race to the bottom? Who woulda thunk that?

Likely because the third parties can't get any financing in this credit crunch. Financing for real estate/retail developments should be nearly impossible to get in this credit environment. |

Supposedly the hotels were to be more "economical" than other on-prop 3rd party hotels, such as the Swan/Dolphin. And the restaurants were to be more "family friendly" such as Joe's Crab Shack.
Here is a better discription with concept art.
