<<Must . . . not . . . respond . . . too . . . many . . . jokes . . .>>
What jokes?
Disney encrotching ... especially at the exec level ... is a serious problem. Lots of male on male encrotching at TDO! |

| Spirit of 74 Fri 11/28/2008 8:58p | <<My cousin works at Team Disney Orlando and I asked him today if they were still going through with Flamingo Crossings and the Four Seasons Resort. He said that they have already started on them.>>
They have cleared land for them. Chopped down trees and moved earth.
That's it.
Now, Four Seasons is a done deal. The papers have all been signed and it will happen.
Ask your cousin what has been signed as far as Flamingo Crossings? The answer will be a big nothing as of yet.
So, they may not officially be saying it's dead, but if they can't find anyone to sign on, it doesn't matter whether they admit it or not.
<<Keep in mind that these projects are more than a few years away. They may believe that their will be pent up demand to stay at Disney property when/if the economy recovers.>>
I am starting to believe folks are smarter in tough times and that may carry over when things get better. What is WDW doing to earn YOUR future business? Are the investing in their parks? Are they giving you new reasons to come? Or are they taking away every single thing that adds value and quality to a visit?
A friend emailed me tonight to tell me he had Turkey Day dinner at Jiko ... the filet (with WalMart mac'n'cheese as a side item) is up to $40 (was $28 a few years ago ... like two!) ... oh, and now they apparently CHARGE YOU FOR BREAD! Yeah ... that's magical ... if by magical you mean tacky and I do. |

I never heard about this at all, except from a few folks online.
I'll ask around and see what I can find.

If it was from 20 years ago, that may have been long before Southwest Airlines and others offered discount airfare to Florida, and where you could save a lot of money by driving to WDW from the northeast. Although some no doubt still do, I suspect the percentage of WDW guests from the northeast that fly instead of drive is far higher today than it was 20 years ago. |

I did make the long trek once, but that was ESCAPING Florida and the only reason I drove was because I needed to keep my car. It was a nightmare. The South pretty much sucks. ;) |

Sounds like a similar experience |

| Mr X Sat 11/29/2008 5:41a | Thing is though, I *like* Florida. I assume based on your comments that you do not. (fair 'nuff...for me Florida represents dreams that came true for me, so I know my view of the place is rather rose colored...PLUS, I like hot weather very much. Heck, I wish I was in Florida RIGHT NOW...the rest of the South though, they can keep it!) |

Yes you can save money by driving, but at the end you have to drive back home. Driving to WDW from Mass is fun, but driving back after an activity filled vacation is a very long boring drive. Been there, done that, don't ever want to do it again. |
