I didn't have any problem with it. As long as Disney established quality control within the properties and made sure they were up to spec, no problem. I'd much rather stay at a decent road motel for $50/night or so than spend over $100 a night at the Disney value resorts. If it was "on property" and had the same benefits as the official Disney hotels, bring it on!

They believed that there was money to be made. Does anything else matter to them? |

I think you're missing a key aspect of the proposed Flamingo Crossing - it wasn't really going to be Disney branded. Rather, it seemed to me that it was going to appear to guests to be an off-property location to compete with the likes of I-drive and whatever that urban blight highway to the east of WDW is, but with Disney providing the silent guiding hand as landlord and city planner. That is, everything would be non-Disney branded, but the area would actually be developed in an orderly fashion and not look like a trainwreck. |

Interstate driving in the South is the pits (especially I-95). Backroads and highways are much more picturesque than the interstates (as seems to be the case in most parts of America). |
