I saw a similar thread earlier this year but thought it was time for more positive Cast Member stories. There are many good people working at the resort. Care to share any stories you have? I want to say a big THANK YOU to all the Cast Member's who have gone out of there way for me.

There was a wonderful gal who actually held my spot for the fireworks in 2005 so I could um "powder my nose"...lol. She was busy but agreed since I was at the resort by myself and had been waiting a long time at the castle for the fireworks to start (hey I am a big kid at heart). I was less then five minutes, but she could have said no. I feel bad for not remembering her name, but I have remembered her actions. Sometimes, these little things that definitely go above and beyond a job description can totally make a trip.

Anyone else?

I got one. My daughter's first trip to Disneyland.....

We were in California Adventure. DD had just figured out the whole pin trading thing. She saw a CM with a lanyard full of pins. She went up to him and said, "Wanna trade for your Pooh pin?" The pooh pin she admired of his was an old one...you could tell by looking at it. It had the old style pin back, and was very plain compared with the detailed and brightly colored newer pins.

I mentioned that it was an older pin, and asked how could he part with it. He said that he had worked at the resort for almost 35 years, and he had LOTS of old pins. He said he always made sure he had a twin at home before he brought some older ones to work with him.

He said that he only brings his old pins every once in a while, and he loves it when a little girl like DD asks to trade for one.

DD told him that she likes old things, and she promised never to trade the old pooh pin. She still has that pin, and she tells the story of the CM and his special pins whenever she takes her lanyard out.

I always preface any complaint with, "I have many more good stories than bad." Or something similar.
I have gone to City Hall to file a complaint twice. I have lost count of the commendations.

One that stands out right now was when I was with my 76yo friend Virginia. She is disabled and we were not getting the cooperation that I have been used to. Anyway, we went to the handicapped entrance for Pirates and it was a 40 minute wait. I told her it would probably be better to just go in the regular line as she can walk a bit. A CM overheard this and said, "Go park her cart and check back with me."
Without her chair he was able to put us right on. Disney Magic at its best.

I know this has to be against the rules but we once has a CM who knew we had been through the ringer with a certain purchase give us her employee discount. (We did not go to City Hall to brag about that.)
Another time a CM gave us a 20% discount on a large purchase even though I had already used my coupon. That one was above board. She got permission from her lead.

On our last trip we met the best CM. She was working on Pinocchio's Daring Journey at the exit. She asked us if we had seen the hidden Mickey's inside and we told her we hadn't.

She told us where they were, 3 of them, and sent us around again.

Bad hidden Mickey spotters that we are, we only found one of them.

When we came back out, she was disappointed in our lack of finding hidden Mickey skills, but still talked to us! She told us what she thought was the best place in the park to see the fireworks. She said to stand next to the carousel, on the left side, behind the castle in Fantasyland. She said that's where all of the CMs watch them.

That night we watched the fireworks there. (We thought the view was better from the Plaza, where Gottaluvdavillains told us to watch them.)

Right after, we ran to get on Casey Jr. before the line got too long. (My DS, Mark, LOVES Casey Jr., but has a hard time waiting in a long line, b/c of his Autism.)

The same CM was now driving the train! We told her we had just seen the fireworks and how great they were from her fav. spot. (Even tho we didn't quite agree. ;) )

She was so friendly and we had such fun talking to her.

We left her an an accommodation that night before we forgot her name, which I have forgotten, unfortunately. She was so much fun.

People who read my posts know I'm a WDW guy, and I have a couple good Disney CM stories. I'll share one of my favoirtes first, one I've mentioned elseware on this site.

It was ESPN the Weekend 2008. My dad and I were heading back from a great day at DHS (where I have another great story to tell.) Anyways, we were heading back on the freedom boats to our hotel, and the captains give us their ussual speil about safety in the freedom boats, and we head off.

Then the free captain gets back on the mike and says "I know you all are tired from your long day at Disney's Hollywood Studios, so I'll help you all cool down with some Disney Trivia!" after which he starts asking us questions. He asks the first question

"What are the names of Daisy Duck's three neices?"

I immidiantly call out the answer (April, May, and June." The free captain then has me walking up to the front of the boat.

"You, sir have just won a free...MAP OF DISNEY'S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS!!!"

All I can say is that was the greatest Freedom Boat trip ever.

The last time we were in Disneyland we came across the same great cm twice, on separate nights. Both times it was in Fantasy land and shortly before they were beginning to shut things down for fireworks, it was pretty crowded. We noticed this custodian had found a clearish area and had taken some bubbles out of his pocket and was just standing there blowing them and making passing tired toddlers giggle away. We thought this was a really fun thing for him to do and a friend of mine walked up (asked first so not to scare him) and gave him a big hug and told him that he made our day. When we noticed him there again the next night we had to go say hi again. This time it was my husband that gave him the big hug. He seemed pretty happy that we were so thrilled with him.
A true Disney moment for us.

When I was in DL earlier this year we asked a male CM working at the Main St. station where the best spot to watch the fireworks was.. after discussing various locations for a few minutes he told us to wait a minute, he spoke to another CM, then came back and allowed us all in to the seated area people pay to sit in.. we were stoked. Once seated he continued to talk to us until they started.. After they finished he made sure to ask us how we enjoyed them and gave us directions for the quickest way yo get a good spot for Fantasmic!.. We we're in love he was so friendly.. the next day we were walking into the park and there he was again, he came running over and asked what we thought of Fantasmic!.. He made our trip even more amazing.

We have come across many CMS who have gone beyond the call. One stands out in my mind during our recent visit in October. It was a hot day and my two young daughters wanted bottled water. We asked the CM at one of the vending stands if she had any bottled water for sale. She only had frozen lemonade so I told her I would take two of those instead. She said, "you know, I have my personal unopened water bottles that I can give them." I was touched by her kind gesture and told her that I didn't want to take her water on such a hot day. She insisted and my daughters were happy and thankful. It left me with a lasting memory of the kindness of some people.

My DH & I were aboard the Mark Twain on the first night of our anniversary trip, when we overheard the Captain, Chris, ask a little girl & her parents if they would like to go up to the wheelhouse to "steer" the boat. The family said no (I don't think they spoke English). I said, "We'd love to go!" , figuring that he would laugh along with us, but keep looking for a family with a child. To our surprise, he said, "Sure, come on up!", and away we went. My DH was just like a kid, he was SO excited!! I had missed the Mark Twain on our last two trips, so I was thrilled also, taking pictures of my DH ringing the bell & blowing the horn. Chris did a great job of explaining things about DLR history, the boat, the Rivers of America, etc. to us. He posed for pics & was so sweet & friendly. We had a wonderful time!
My very favorite CM is Nancy, who works at the Candy Palace, and has for around 13 years. We were battling the late-night, last-minute crowds & I was a tad (ok, maybe more) crabby. It seemed that no matter where we stood, we were told the line was someplace else. Our arms were loaded down with gifts for everyone back home & it had been a very full, long day. Nancy managed to placate me & get me smiling again. Her wonderfulness made me ashamed of myself & my crabby attitude! I decided that the "Happiest Place on Earth" was no place to be mean, and instead engaged with her, which was so easy because she is a true doll!! She has red hair & the neatest gap between her 2 front, top teeth! She's adorable; looks like a cross between Lauren Bacall & Lucille Ball. We ended up having quite the conversation, and she seemed to like me, too, despite our rocky start. She wanted to give me a Tinkerbell pin (not into pin trading, so I don't know if this is usual-I didn't have one to give back) but she was out, so she asked me to come back the next day. We did, and I got the cutest pin & a great picture of she & I together. Both are among my all-time favorite DLR momentos. She asked me to e-mail her our pic, which I haven't yet done :( Think I'll go do it now....I can't wait to see her in March!!
