I just got an Elph (1100, I think). I really like it, and I've found the same combination that you have - ISO setting to high, flash off. I've read that setting the mode to landscape helps a lot with night pictures - haven't tried that for myself yet.

I use a Canon Rebel EOS. It has five different settings for time exposures. For nightime shots I use a tripod and long exposure. You may have noticed "ghost" images of people in some of the foregrounds. I do use shorter exposures where there are bright elements (like the clock face on the small world facade).
If you don't have a tripod (or don't want to carry one around), you can put your camera on top of a convenient trash can (there are lots and lots of them in Disney parks!) and use a few coins to tilt the lens up to frame the shot you want. The key is to turn off the flash, set a slow exposure, and keep the camera absolutely still. |

From your lips to my hands. If I could just master that, I'd win half of my picture-taking battles. I'm going to work on memorizing my how-to manual that came with my camera to do a much better job on my next trip to DL.
Thank you for your pictures. xoxo |

Lucky for you, it gets dark rediculously early in SoCal in the winter. It's usually just about dark by 5:00 (they did the fireworks at 5:45 earlier this week because of the cast Christmas parties), so you don't really have to stay terribly late at all. On the bright side, if you want to stay late, the park seems to be open fairly late every night until past New Year's! |

| SleepingBeauty82 Fri 12/12/2008 3:33p | Hey Tink, we tried to stay for the parade last night but it was getting really crowded and we were pooped so I didn't catch it. But there's a good chance I'll go again before the season is over. I'll let you know if we do! |
