We were there tonight. Holiday merchandise is all but gone, and it's only 12/23. Usually that's after 12/25. There were empty shelves in practically every shop we went in.

WOW, I feel badly for the CM's. I hope they have employment elsewhere in the parks. I guess they are expecting major drop offs in attendance, it was certainly busy during all of our visits this year.

Having never gone to the Fantasy Fair except for a peek at the merch, what is being cut? Oh, wait, is the the maypole thing? That looked cute.

Uh... Fantasmic usually operates seasonally. Doesn't it always go down for a few months every year?

All this reminds me of the old days when Disneyland was closed for two days each week and they got better use of the land DCA occupies when it was a parking lot. More than a few of us old timers wonder why they don't go back to closing two days a week during off peak and stagger it with DCA. DL could close Monday-Tuesday, DCA Wednesday-Thursday. Downtown Disney stores would have the option of closing during that time or staying open. It would seem the show aspect of the parks wouldn't have to suffer if they did something along those lines.

Isn't Main Street due for repaving? Perhaps that's why the parade will be on hiatus.

"they will all be back soon. Its the off season."

I'm pretty sure Disneyland had a good amount of entertainment on the weekends, even in the off-season.

Anyway, Al Lutz has stepped in and saved the day.

"Editor's Note 12/24-25: There's lots of confusion from Disneyland.com on early 2009's entertainment, but here's the latest; Fantasmic! will still run 7 nights per week thru the middle of March before a rehab. Fireworks are cancelled weekends, except for MLK Jr. & President's Day. And Parade of Dreams is history, pending the response to the Celebration street party debuting 3/26. More info on the cuts in the next update."

So it seems like Fantasmic! will be doing double duty to make up for the lack of a parade or fireworks.

I guess the people who like a quiet New Orleans Square and night rides on the Mark Twain will have to wait until March.

OK, Disneyland.com is at it again. (Incorrect info).

Multiple CM's in entertainment have stated that Fantasmic! will be offered daily through March 27th instead of the parade, which will be the Celebrate Today Street Event when it premieres in late March/early April.

Also, Aladdin will be offered at least through February, and probably much longer (5 days a week), this is per an official Disneyland spokesperson.
