Thanks, Westsider, for that helpful info. I would suspect that it just might have something to do with human remains and the recent happening on Halloween.

The refurb is disappointing, but we will be okay. Thanks again.

I wonder if it will still allow you to knock on the doombuggy in front of you (technically behind you as they are moving backwards) at the bottom of the hill into the grave yard. While it wouldn't be the end of the world, it's always a fun little thing to do when you know the folks behind you, especially if you know that one of them is spooked to begin with.

I've never focused much on how long the HM and IASW attractions are down for the overlays. When I worked World they didn't have the overlay. It seems like these two popular attractions end up down for quite a while each year as they engage and disengage the overlays. While I like the changes they make each season, these attractions are down for seemingly a long time to do it each year.
I know attractions go down for rehab, but I was just curious how much they are able to do on the rehab while the overlay is being done. Killing two birds with one stone so to speak.

They usually wait until they are undoing the overlay to do the general maintenence and stuff. Over the past few years, they have replaced the carpet in the foyer with hardwood flooring, made Madame Leota float around the room, completely changed the attic, and did a ton of general upgrades that most people don't really notice, like sound and lighting. Pretty much everything that was done to the WDW Mansion (with the exception of the staircase room) had been done to DL's over 3 or 4 years of annual maintenece after the overlay. It's really great to see it get updated, but I agree that it's a long time between versions. The original version of the Mansion seems to run less than 2/3 of the year here (it closes in early September to open for the beginning of HalloweenTime which is getting earlier each year and reopens in late January or early February after the updates), which is the only thing I don't like about it. The holiday version is fun, but it just feels very tired by the end of its run each year. Add in that it takes a couple weeks to adjust the sound and lights so everything is just right on both versions, and the Mansion isn't operating at its fullest for a good portion of the year.

So, yes, they do usually get a little general maintenence in there each year, but it usually takes a while for them to do it, which is kind of annoying, considering how long it had been since the last time anybody had ridden the regular verison of the ride.

Hey FA... Mr. Alice got yelled at over the loudspeakers for "knocking." *LOL* It was too funny! We don't do it anymore. ;-)

I got a reprimand from the "voice" just for pointing out the small Oogie in the attic. I wasn't leaning out , just pointing.

Oogie doesn't take kindly to pointing. Very sensitive ego. Next time, he'll strap ya to the wheel and spin ya.
