Version 1 - "Pay for Disneyland, get DCA for FREE!" - One day at each park on TWO different days (second visit must be within 30 days of the first visit) - Cannot be used as a ParkHopper - Same as a one day/one park ticket (currently $69 for adults, $59 for kids 3 through 9)
Version 2 - 2 day ParkHopper for the price of a 1-day ParkHopper. Same 30 day rule for the second visit, currently $94 for adults, $84 for kids 3 through 9.
Same basic rules, must live in Southern California (proof of a zip code in the 9000-93599 range) to USE the ticket. (But yes, not too many CM's check at the turnstiles) or in Baja California.
One special exception for the "What will you celebrate?" theme, if your birthday is from tomorrow until June 3rd and live in Southern California/Baja California, Mexico, instead of a free one day/one park ticket, you will get a special 2fer BIRTHDAY ticket, basically a free "Pay for Disneyland, get DCA for FREE! on a different date" (No parkhopping unless you pay to upgrade - $25). |

I guess they have to do it to compete with the 2fer, but it just seems really strange that they don't just limit it to a one day ticket, since that's all it's supposed to be as part of the promotion. And if you don't want to park hop, then you get two days at DL for nothing. That just seems a little too desperate for me.
And if folks can show SoCal identification and get into both parks, can I get a gift card with more money of it with proof of SoCal residency? It seems that adding the 2fer offer into the birthday promotion just opens a lot more cracks for a ton more problems in trying to make it 'fair' to everybody. And what about those visitors from out of state who only get into one park for free for their birthday? Sure, they still get in for free to celebrate, but it just doesn't seem as special when other folks get in twice for free just because they happen to live in the right place. |

Disneyland must be failing
Every year its the same thing with this promotion but if it makes people happy to really believe DCA is free than go for it. |

Tue 1/6/2009 2:11p | More people will use the free birthday ticket for Disneyland because Disneyland tickets are in much higher demand. Some will upgrade to a parkhopper, some won't.
I haven't seen the current grocery store advertising, but in the past Disney has advertised the promotion prominently as, "Pay for Disneyland, get DCA for free."

"Buy one day at Disneyland Resort, get the next free" or something like that..not "DCA for free"

Tue 1/6/2009 4:10p | The wording does claim you pay for Disneyland and get DCA "for FREE", so Darkbeer is correct on that one.
I remember in January, 2001 when Director of Attractions Paul Yeargin (hired by Cynthia and long since fired) told all of us that DCA would be selling out every day through 2001 and people would "be forced" to "settle" for Disneyland and so we had to be extra-super nice to the Disneyland visitors in '01 because they would be in such crabby moods after being shut out from DCA.
I only wish I had the foresight to secretly tape those types of statements from the TDA team back then when they had those "Cast Updates" we all attended. Some of the things they said about what DCA would be like and how it would perform were hilarious, especially considering how it all turned out from 2001-08.
Oh well, at least I have my memories to make me chuckle. |

Tue 1/6/2009 7:34p | I can vouch for it. I was on Monorail, and we had long stretches in between trains during 1999 and 2000 construction. At the hotel then DTD station, we talked to Guests all day long about how amazing the park was and that it would sell out early each day, and on and on. It is hard to keep from laughing out loud. I have original Paul Yeargin and Cynthia Harriss signatures from 1999 . . . . |
