"What? You mean people aren't leaving? It doesn't suck so much to work there they'd rather not work at all?"

Yeah man, Disneyland is a great job compared to, you know, homelessness. Here the "Disney Difference" is a paltry pittance in a pitiful economy.

Suddenly it's like the turnover problems never happened!

<<The best break rooms are, of course, at TDA. They have several on every floor, they have nice furniture, they are kept spotless and fully stocked with coffee and hot cocoa and tea bags and hot water, with a GE refrigerator that is cleaned weekly, a big sink and microwaves cleaned regularly, TV's on the wall that get cable, and wall art featuring the latest Disney release that is changed seasonally. They are perfectly climate controlled and nicely lighted, with vending machines that are always full of product. It's really a very plush setup there in TDA. >>

THis is pretty standard fare in Corporate America. That only "professional" staff in TDA get this and not CMs says a great deal about how management feels about the hourly paid staff.

Remember, that grass is always greener on the other side.

If employees don't like bagging groceries, or changing oil in our cars, work hard at getting a degree - and then, if you don't like that "cushy" office job, you could always go back to a job that lets you say "paper or plastic".
Getting a degree gives you more opportunity...

"If employees don't like bagging groceries, or changing oil in our cars, work hard at getting a degree"

That's absolutely true. But at the same time, should people just lay down and not speak out for improvements at their workplace?

After all, this is the company that touts the Disney Difference. Is part of the Disney Difference this "Don't complain or get out" mentality?

I can understand not having break rooms for hourly Park CMs that are as fully stocked, equipped, and maintained as those in TDA. But based on the descriptions here, this seems to be an area that is simply disregarded by TDA, as long as "some" break area is provided. It would seem to me that having break areas that all meet at least a certain minimum standard (AC/heat, enough seating, operable and stocked vending machines, water, and no odor) is not too much to ask, would not actually cost a lot of money in the big scheme of things, and would more than pay for itself in terms of CM morale. Not working there and not knowing the specifics, it does seem that from my point of view that this reflects poorly on the attitude of management.

They put LCD screens that no one even cares about in cast areas.

Let's see some pictures of what a TDA break area looks like in comparison to what a break area looks like in Disneyland, DCA, and the Disneyland Hotel.

I think that would be REALLY interesting.

No wonder Disneyland doesn't have problems filling roles right now.
