They were calling to say that they were leaving the park and going to a movie (I think, I don't really remember), but they happened to time it so that we were on the Universe of Energy, just as the Big Boom was happening in the film. Sitting there, listening to my mom trying to be louder than the big boom just made me laugh really hard. And, of course, people all around us were giving us dirty looks, but she basically said that she'd call back as soon as we were done on the ride. |

And it was the annoying 'well, now we're on the Jungle Cruise. yes, when it's done I'll call Fred. Oh, look: gorillas. Yes, wife'sname is here too. So's babyname.' type of conversation.
If you aren't a cardiac surgeon being told that a donor heart has just been located, I expect you to shut up through the ride. |

Our first day at DL on this last trip, we made a dash for POTC--Yeah! There was no line! We were so excited. Get on the boat and a group at the back of the boat made jokes and laughed through the first half of the ride. It was distracting to say the least. Even if I said something to them, they probably wouldn't have cared. Besides, at that point, I was completely irritated. Oh well, it happens I suppose. Unfortunately, it seems to happen more and more frequently these days. |

Usually a SHHHH to a phone person does the trick. People aren't really that rude - they're just so self-centered that they don't even stop to think that they might be bothering others.
That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.

A teen or twenty something girl had her camera right in front of the photo and kept it there, taking multiple close ups. DH said "its kind of hard look at our picture with a camera and a hand in the middle of the picture" to the group that had ridden with us. Yes, he said it loudly so the girl would stop before the picture went away. The guy who was with her went ballistic on DH. Cursing and generally going berserk. DH then called him "son" which was a mistake but went on saying that others were just trying to see the picture. No one else said a word. It was pretty sad and ruined a really fun afternoon. We were seriously looking over our shoulders the rest of the day. |

Sure it is. Or rather, it's your right to politely ask the person to be quiet. But then, I also understand your reticence in confronting. You never know when someone is gonna pull out a knife or worse. But on an attraction, or in church, or anywhere where quiet is an accepted norm, anyone who insists on yapping through that deserves a SHHH from anyone.

<---*sits waiting patiently for someone to get shot or stabbed for talking on the phone during Pirates and irritating the guy behind him*
It's a two-way street. I really don't see what's limiting us from doing anything about it. It's not their right to ruin my ride, just like it's not my right to ruin theirs. I can only hope that one of these days people will get enough sense to realize that they're not the only person in the park (which is why there are lines for everything...hmmm, funny how that works). |
