Granted, I got there just after the castle walkthrough re-opened, as well as Pixie Hollow, but it just seemed so strange that the park that will "never be finished" had zero signs of anything new happeneing. I don't believe in my 25+ years of visiting Disneyland that I have ever seen that.
And as much as I hate to admit this, with the current economic situation, as well as the LOADS of money being spent on DCA 2.0, I don't think we should be holding our breaths for anything new anytime soon. Oh, I'm sure there are a lot of great ideas at WDI right now, but until the economic outlook improves, I doubt we'll be seeing anything in terms of new attractions at Disneyland. |

First, there's precious little room at DL to expand, and second, it doesn't make sense financially for Disney to add expensive new attractions when DL is mostly at capacity throughout the year. The future growth opportunities at the resort are at DCA, the hotels, and other adjacent property nearby. |

Enjoy it while it lasts. Isn't it nice to have a park that DOESN'T have walls up? |

And as mentioned progress is just a few steps away over at Disney's Californa Adventure. I'm sure we are in store for some exciting years ahead. |

Those three: 1. Festival of Fools arena 2. former Motor Boat Cruise location 3. and fixing what is the fiasco known as TL:98
I can see Disney never getting around (for the foreseeable future) number 1, and 2.
But eventually ... they got to get around to fixing Tomorrowland.
And if that is the only thing they do for the next 10 years .. then so be it. But they have to fix it!
I look at the last decade (2000-present) .. and it's pretty much all been fixing, renovating, restoring EXISTING attractions.
Only Buzz Lightyear and Winnie the Pooh are Disney's answer to new Disneyland attractions for an entire decade.
One strong "C" and one weak "C".
The last decade has all been about fixing what they let deteriorate in the previous decade. And I see 2009 through the next few years (or more) more of the same.
So .. someday .. I look forward to an Innoventions and HISTA replacement, and a peoplemover track idea. Beyond that ....... I think all attention turns to outside the DL berm through 2025! |

| Hans Reinhardt Thu 1/8/2009 1:30p | ^^I pretty much agree with you Dean. A lot of people talk about the old Motor Boat area for expansion, but I don't see how anything significant can be built there unless the Monorail, Autopia and Rocket Rod (Peoplemover) tracks are removed or relocated. Does anyone think that will actually happen? |

| oc_dean Thu 1/8/2009 2:43p | I think there's a way to work around all those support beams .. and redirect that section of Autopia track which does not interfere with the sub's showbuilding ... but it's been a rumor for so long. And now with the economy the way it is ... I see Fantasia "Smoking" Gardens remaining - as is, for quite some time.
Though ... I'll tell ya ... when a wind is blowing westerly .... watching a parade in that terraced "parade viewing" area becomes deadly!
The smoke coming in just kills me.
I think California will institute a total ban on smoking in public theme parks .. before the area is rebuilt for a new attraction. ;) |

How? Most of them are so low I can't imagine how they can build any kind of major structure unless those spaghetti-like trackways were actually incorporated into the building. Whatever they build it would most likely have to be an outdoor attraction, which means it's unlikely that it would be anything major. |
