| Hans Reinhardt Wed 1/21/2009 1:40p | "In FNSV, the attraction is all about the story, and the subs are merely the conveyances to tell this new story."
Nemo (and the subsequent story told on the Subs) has absolutely nothing to do with the theme o Tomorrowland: the future. Besides that the plot line of the Nemo attraction stinks. |

I have a hunch what this is suppose to mean. Would you mind elaborating just for the record? |

| oc_dean Wed 1/21/2009 1:54p | Just so that anyone thinks this is not a legit discussion .. let me state where we are at:
Planet: Earth Domain: website context: All things Disney specifically: Disneyland
So .. unless we are suppose to talk about world hunger, Iraq, yesterday's Inauguration, Michelle's evening gown, right here in this section ... please let us know. |

| oc_dean Wed 1/21/2009 1:58p | And speaking of "for the record" .... My hat's off to those in Imagineering who came up with this ~brilliant~ scheme ... who's heads are far too engrossed into the Disney characters .. and are loosing objectivity .. and careless about any original theme that was ALREADY brilliantly in it's original conception!
Real brilliant Imagineering!

| Jim in Merced CA Wed 1/21/2009 2:02p | I think making a crack like the one in post #41 is just an attempt to stop a thread from progressing.
To me, writing it suggests that we're all making too much out of it and should be worrying about 'real' things.
I thought buying a funeral-like flower arrangement was a bit over-the-top, but my guess is that it was meant to be.
I'm not attempting to lessen the feelings of anyone who feels that 'it's a small world' will be ruined or diluted or whatever, from its original form.
Far from it.
I was surprised that Mary Blair's family was upset that the changes were being made.
Also. Just because Marty Sklar thinks it's okay to make these changes to 'small world' doesn't make him a tool, in my opinion.
He's one of the few people in the building who worked with Walt Disney and Mary Blair and Rolly Crump.
I remember when he was discussing removing 'The Carousel of Progress' from the Magic Kingdom and he got blasted for that. His take on it was that over time, attractions do need to be replaced.
That makes him a tool? |

| oc_dean Wed 1/21/2009 2:11p | There is no doubt how tremendous Marty Sklar's contributions from the beginning of his career with Walt ... leading up to the 1990s. And anyone can call me crazy .. it just seems in the last 10 years ... as he winds down in his celebrated career .. that he has evolved more into a The Corporate Pragmatist.
It's like .. there was a time where artistic integrity trumped all.
But in this day and age .. It's evolved into - "I better say what the all mighty corporation tells me, in order to protect myself."
I don't feel like he is truly speaking from his "heart of hearts" anymore.
It's the Corporate Mantra first!
I see a difference.
I just add up his career to this point .... and that's what I am seeing. |

I will wait and see - then give my opinion - |
