Does anyone know.....what is the name of that song that they play after the "Shenandoah" section, and after the Davy Crockett theme? I know it's a very familiar western theme that I've heard plenty of times in my life, but I can't remember the name of it, or the movie/TV show it came from. Thanks.

I couldn't tell. It sounded to me like generic western-sounding music based on the Davy Crockett theme, but I could totally be wrong.

Oh yes - I know that part - that "Classic" Western theme (during which you hear the sound of bullets ricocheting (ping, ping, ping). I am inclined to say that it's "How the West Was Won" - but I am not 100% sure. SOMEONE out there *must* have a list of the songs during the "Remember...Dreams Come True" show ... and if I find it - I will be back...

I always just thought it was a variation on the Davy Crockett theme. If you listen carefully, it works pretty well as a counter-melody to the verses. I don't think I've ever heard it as part of the Davy Crockett song, but it seems like the composers of the show just wrote it based off of the verse. It's in the same style of the How The West Was Won theme, but I'm pretty sure that they're different songs. Using Davy Crockett also helps them not have to pay royalties on it too...

According to the Steve Davidson presentation that he gave introducing Remember -- he said that the arrangement is a combination of "Davy Crockett" mixed with "Big Country". Added to that are the sound effects of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad; and then (of course) the Shooting Gallery.

To get to the presentation - use a search engine to look up "Remember, Dreams Come True Presentation" - it's an 18 minute video with Steve Davidson going thru the whole show. It's really cool and worth viewing.

Yep, "The Big Country." Thanks. What a great montage that is in that part of the show.
Funny how I've never seen that movie though. Apparently I was familiar with the song. It has the same sort of familiarity as the Grand Canyon Suite and that song that they play with the steak (or beef) commercial.
Course, now I'm blanking on that one too. Sorry!
An Aaron Copland piece perhaps?

That's would be Aaron Copeland's Rodeo (pronounced like Rodeo Drive, not like the cowboy competetion). Great little piece that pretty much sounds like the basis for all western movie themes ever created.
All times are Pacific Time (US)
