A local blog takes a look at the construction of the new Disney Family Museum in San Francsico's Presidio Park.

Do you live in Cow Hollow or the Marina, Hans? If the Museum has docents, you should consider volunteering.

^^Did you read the comments from the readers? Wow, some of them were really scathing. Not surprising though for us "holier than thou" San Franciscans.

That 20 dollar admission is going to scare some people off, but thats okay, I dont like crowds at museums.
All those whiners probably never even go to the Presidio, just whining for the sake of it.

NIMBYism is a practically a pastime here in San Francisco. The fact that this thing got built at all is a big surprise to me. You should see the coal raking GAP founder Donald Fisher's new modern art museum got. The guy was offering to set up a permanent state of the art facility for his art collection (similar to the Getty in LA) for free in the Presido and all hell broke loose. A new proposal was recently submitted, and if it gets built it will be very near to the Walt Disney Museum.

"Do you live in Cow Hollow or the Marina, Hans?"

I live on Nob Hill. It's a hike to the Presidio, but I've done it many times. Unfortunately I'm too busy to volunteer, but I will definitely be visiting the place when it opens.
