Just watched this feature about the process of making UP in 3D- pretty informative. Cool to hear how the 3D corresponds to the different emotional points in the story...should be an awesome journey. Thoughts on the new technology?

They still haven't done anything about the depth of field issue, so the headaches are just as bad. I'm sure PIXAR used the 3D wonderfully, but I will be seeing the movie in 2D without the headache, thankyouverymuch.
The ONLY reason the studios are pushing it so hard is to get reluctant theaters to buy digital projectors. Criswell predicts ... the fad dies within a year, and movies using the technology stop appearing about a year after that. |

As far as I'm concerned, 3D will continue to be just a novelty as long as the audience has to put on funny glasses. |

I am looking forward to seeing this in 3D. |

And I paid $1 more for the privilege which, if you knew me, you'd agree was a real eyebrow-raiser.
I agree 100% that it's just a novelty, a gimmick. But a fun gimmick.
If it gave me a headache, I wouldn't watch it, either.

I saw Meet the Robinsons that way, and some of the scenes (I remember one with rainfall particularly) were cool that way. A nice little enhancement. I'll try to find reviews of Up in 3D vs. 2D and decide which way I'd like to see it.
Katzenberg was recently in Time magazine predicting 3D would become all the rage, and not just with animation. He really seemed to think it was so good now that it was going to supplant 2D eventually, and he's really committing DreamWorks to it. But I think mawnck is probably closer to the truth. |

I see almost everything in 3-D if given the chance. I loved Coraline. And I can't wait for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland adaption. I will most certainly be seeing Up in 3-D. |

Apparently they didn't bother telling anybody, and it's playing to empty houses. So if this interests you at all, you have until Thursday. |

And the live cameras are much better than the old Iki's that used to be the only option. I saw Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D, and was very happy to see that they did very little of the 3D in your face tricks. It was more about depth, and I think it worked very well to add a dimension (pun intended) to the film.
