If you want to stay in the area but do other non Disney things you can take a can to Knott's Berry Farm. It's only a few miles away. Near KBF is Mideval Times and the Pirate dinner show thingy.

Our DD, SIL and grandson went for a week (timeshare) when our grandson was 3. They too thought it might be too long but found that it was a perfect amount of time for a relaxing trip. They were able to use the hotel pool, check out some different restaurants and take a less hectic visit to each park, knowing that there was "always" tomorrow. They spent time at Redwood Trail and the Bugs Land water areas that usually get by passed for time to head to another attraction.

I've never done it myself but you could probably take a taxi to one of the closer beaches if you want a day off. Anyone know if this is do able and which beach might be the best?

Thanks everyone. I am the original poster, but unfortunately couldn't remember my passoword and couldn't figure out how to retrieve it, so I'm back under a different name.

I love the ideas of looking for hidden mickies or doing the pin trading. My 11 year old would really enjoy that. We are also planning to spend time at the Grand California pool and i love playing in California Adventure at Bugs Life water area and enjyoing hanging out with characters in Sunshine plaza. I'd love to do Sea World, but don't think i'd be insane after that many hours on the road with my daughter.

We rent a car
My little one likes sea world over most parks. By renting a car you can make several stops along the way as well and let the kids enjoy the scenery! Capistrano Beach is well worth stopping at
