Have been following MiceAge's photo updates -- and Disneyland seems to be spending a lot of time (and certainly money) completely re-doing the Cosmic Waves thing in Tomorrowland.

Anyone have any additional details? Is it really just the same thing as before?

Sure seems like a lot of time spent of what is just a fountain -- and a messy one at that.

I thought they were just taking it out.

I can see planters going in. I haven't really studied the pics morethan that.

Darkbeer has this picture on MiceAge -- and he's been following the reconstruction of Cosmic Waves for months.

Ah yes -- Schmitty Good Vibes -- I think you're right about the planters.

Perhaps just the center ball with a small amount of water will remain, and the rest will be planters?

Maybe jumping water fountains in the planters?

Why not just tear the whole thing out? What the hell is the purpose of a spinning ball with water on it? All it does is fill space.

Well, that was sort of my thought --

Doubtful. If you follow the progression of the work via the photos over the last months, it appears that they removed most of the piping and fountain equipment. And, in the most recent photos, there didn't seem to be any evidence of fountain equipment being placed to serve what looks like planters as they were filling in the space where the old equipment was.

^^^This is true. For some reason, when I was looking at them, it appeared that they were replacing the plumbing for the fountain -- that just seemed crazy.

Seems that they are just getting rid of all the wetness and going to a more standard planter.
