Both of those gave me pause, but Pixar just manages to toss you right back in.

I thought about the age too. Muntz definately looks older than Carl, but not enough. But, he's been living in the jungle for all those years, away from all the polutions of modern life that age us. Maybe that's why...... :)

The first step to accomplishing this is to be Jerry Bruckheimer...

^^^I think someone saw 'Bedtime Stories' with Adam Sandler, and that little animated Guinea Pig with the big buggy eyes, and thought...

'I wonder if you could make a whole movie surrounding that guy.'

A year later, it's morphed into 'G Power'

As much as I liked Dug, I had a huge problem with the dogs in general. It's one thing to invent a collar that translates Dog into English. It's quite another to genetically manipulate the dogs to be that intelligent, and they didn't even give a hint as to how it was done by Muntz. It would have been an easy loophole to fill, but they missed on that one.

But overall I truly enjoyed the movie, especially the first 15 minutes or so. Very moving, very well done!

I agree...we could've used more screen time with Charles F. Muntz. :)

Hmm, I actually think that would have been an unnecessary tangent and probably would have distracted from the film's pretty tightly focused storyline. We know that Muntz had been essentially living alone with the dogs for as many as 60-70 years, which would have given him a lot of time to work on the inventions and training needed to make the dogs what they were. My sense is that this was probably as much as we needed to know.

I loved this movie! i saw it twice! I love the story, they were all so lovable, well except the villian of course. and i was worried the bird and the dog were going to be really annoying but after seeing the movie i have to say they were awesome!

SPOILERS....

Considering they floated to South America in a house with helium ballons in what appeared to be an overnight trip, I didn't mind the gaps in logic. The dogs flying just seemed one step too far for me and it took me out of the film for a moment. But, it was a great film and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I still like "Wall-E" more. ;-)

The "alfa" dog with the high pitched voice made me laugh till I cried. So goofy.

And I loved the bit when Russell had to go to bathroom and asked if he was supposed to dig a hole before or after. Hilarious!

The scenes where Russell would talk about his absent father made me cry as well. In a way, I was glad that the dad didn't show up at the end because that's a lot less realistic, and yet, it was sad at the same time.

Mele, that's Alpha :)

The dogs were Alpha, Beta, Gamma and... Dug.
