| Rider 1 Thu 6/11/2009 8:41a | I see the WHO has just declared the Swine flu as pandemic. Not more dangerous just more wide spread.
I wonder if this will have an effect on peoples holiday planning and/or summer crowds. We are still going in August but will all be carrying hand sanitizer lotions.
This is one of the main reasons I booked the GCH instead of one of the non-disney hotels across the street.
All those hands reaching into those breakfast free for alls where my wife would have insisted we eat at because it's free...

LOL! My wife's the same way. She just can't resist the allure of that "free" label.
Me, give me a sit-down meal at Carnation Cafe over those stale muffins and generic cereals any day of the week. I'm at DL for cryin' out loud, I'll pay a premium.
As for swine flu, I appreciate that you mentioned it's not more serious, just more widespread. While I'd hate to have the flu at DL, it's still just the flu. Same old flu it's always been. Of course, very small children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing conditions or weakened immune systems do need to be a bit more cautious. For the rest of us, it's just a few miserable days in bed. |

BUT, the difference between this flu and a regular flu is that it's NOT just the young, elderly and those with pre-existing conditions that are dying.
I'd still go to DL, but take extra precautions with hand santizers and wipes. Plus, I really believe the swine flu is going around my kids' school but no one had actually taken their kid to get tested. I think my older daughter has already had it! The kids that are getting the flu have a cough, sore throat, fever, and many have diarrhea and/or vomiting with it. Some have had pink eye also. |

For all you know the illegal aliens that work in all the sit down restaurants might have the swine flu as well.
I guess that's one reason to eat inside the berm. Unless Disney also hires illegals to work in its kitchens.

Really? And you just figure that those that clean your room, change your linen, touch your doorknobs there at the GCH are somehow immune because you pay more there than the hotels across the street? |

| Sara Tonin Thu 6/11/2009 2:58p | There is no single race or demographic issue for swine flu. It's more of a "When was the last time you washed your hands" issue... and since I don't see how that can be monitored, you'll just have to make sure you wash your hands. Isn't this how the holocaust got started? "It's all the fault of those dirty jews, homosexuals and the mentally ill." |

no matter what hotel I stay at i always bring my own pillow, even at the GCH. If I forget then I ask for new pillows, hoping they will have been stored in a closet for some time not recently used....wierd I know. |

Oh, man. What happens is they go down to the cabinet marked "DROOL-DRENCHED PILLOWS" and you get one of those. They put the really soggy ones there to let them air dry a little bit. |
