Normally we spend a few days at DL in early June. Some days can be crowded, but usually it's not too bad.
This year I booked Dec 31-Jan 4 and I'm wondering how crowded it may be, especially since New Years falls on a weekend.

At first I thought New years day would be real crowded and then lighter crowds after, but 1/2 is a Saturday and 1/3 a Sunday so maybe the whole weekend will be crowded?

Any thoughts?

NYE is insanely crowded. Basically at around 4 pm or so, pick a spot and stay there.

It is a LOT of fun, however, if you have the right mindset that 1) it is going to be crowded and 2) you might not get to ride anything but enjoy the atmosphere.

Now as to 1/1 and 1/2, etc., some of my most enjoyed days have been on New Year's day, especially early on 1/1. Going on 1/2 was delightful, even when it lands on a weekend.

I've never been on 1/3, so I can't say. I would imagine they would be slower, however, than you think.

^^^I agree..I have been on NYE many times in the past, and the right mindset will get you far! Knowing it will be jammed packed and ride lines will be insane is half the battle. But if you know this and still choose to go, have a blast!~~

I will be there as well from Dec. 31st through Jan. 2nd with my DD as well.

Thanks for the input!

NYE will be a travel day. We'll get in around 2pm and check into the hotel (my favorite, Grand Califorian!) and wander DTD and maybe a little time in DCA. Then DL the next couple days.

MMM..wich I could join you at the GC, but with two hotel stays in the month (I am going for the big meet as well) I opted to stay at HoJo's with the ET rate~~

MS Dad, get there as early on the 1st as you can. It will likely be dead in the morning.

I've been during the first week of January before. Perhaps due to unusually warm weather, it was packed. But do remember that kids are out of school, and Deluxe and SoCal APs become unblocked on the 3rd, after Christmas blockouts.
