| Disney and beyond Sat 6/13/2009 7:38p | MY friend posed to me an interesting question, and I thought I would share it with this community. He asked
"If Walt Disney came to you while you at WDW, what would you do with him?"
He then extablished these rules
-I am the only one that can see Walt. So I can't just call Disney and say "I have Walt Disney here"
- Walt has no clue what went on with his company after his death.
- Walt tells you at the beginning how long he has, So I don't have to rush around places.
I then came up with these three scenarios
-3-4 Days at WDW
-1 Day at DL
-1 Day at your house.
What would you show him? What would you try to avoid him seeing? What would you ask him? |

| iamsally Sun 6/14/2009 10:10a | My first question would be to ask him what he really meant about Disneyland never being finished. Okay, that grammar is bad but I do not know the exact quote. But people are forever rationalizing using that one quote and I would like to know just what he did invision. And I would take him on TTM cuz I just think he would like that unless it gave him sensory overload. If he has been looking down all this time then he knows what has been going on; if he has just been gone these many years then the advances of the 21st century could be overwhelming. |

I would go to Disneyland, take the left side of the tunnel and walk slowly with him down Main Street so as to hear all his stories about the making of DL...we would go to the Enchanted Tiki Room as it's my fave, and maybe his too I've read?...I'd sing along cuz I kmow all the words to the entire attraction just to show him how very much I LOVE the ETR and I'd detail the joy it's brought me over the years...though we'd have to pass some things he hasnt seen yet, we'd then take in Pirates cuz it's the last thing he worked on, but he never got to see it completed...we'd sit in row 6 so he could take in the enjoyment of the guests as he enjoyed his first ride through...I'd blow bubbles like I always do and also sing along (since yes I know all the words to that one too) Then we'd catchthe train at NOS and ride all the way around so he could see the things that are the same and the new things too... I'd then want to show Rancho (without eating there) and walk through to The Castle...then as I rode on Jingles and he chose some other fine horse, I 'd ask just to hear any stories he cared to share about The Park in general and then ask if he'd like to dine at The RainForest Cafe (as it reminds me a bit of Tiki) and then just follow where he led until time for Fireworks...we'd stay until all the MS shops closed and I think that'd be about my perfect day at DL with Walt... what a fun question! |

Second, I would walk all around the park with him and go on all of the rides, especially the ones built after his death, to see if they match what his vision for park was.
I would also want to watch the fireworks and Fantasmic to see what he thought because the technology now is so much better than before. |

| Hista98 Mon 6/15/2009 6:27p | I would show him how tacky and comerical certain parts of the parks have become like pirate island. That really is an aweful thing they did to it. It was so cool looking they way it looked before and then they moved in the lastest charecters and made it comerical. and now the place looks terrible, whit a frontier skeleton and pirtes meshed. The two time periods are way too diffrent and should not clash. Not to mention the movie nods kill the period its supposed to be in with modern things like elevators and movie charecters. This is now the worst spot in DL and i hope they fix it quick |

| gadzuux Mon 6/15/2009 6:39p | I'd like to think that Walt would be very happy with the disneyland of today, and gratified to know that something he cared so much about is still firing on all cylinders.
It didn't have to be a 'happily ever after'. But it's worked out very well.
I think he'd be understanding of tomorrowland's current woes. He had to deal with the same problems several different times.
I think he'd be delighted by the nemo overlay on the subs. He seemed to like marrying new technology to the methods of storytelling.
I think he'd be wowed by the shows - like F! and the fireworks, just like we all are - and again because of the technology employed.
Overall, I think he'd be pleased at how the overall structure and "feel" of the park has been maintained. His vision is still largely intact, and very relevant for a modern day audience. |
