I was at DL on friday night to check out the show and I found it cheep and laking any imagination. It was blogged to be the best show in DL history. NO WAY NO HOW NEVER......First how dare disney use another voice over for Mary Poppins. Tastles.. I found no flow to the show like you get with Believe and other shows. No Dumbo...???? Opening night to me was a flop and a huge waste of time.
I feel DL lost this one. By the way I have been a Huge DL fan all my life and a pass holder for as long as I can remember I feel this was a drag to other DL Fans not just me.

khandrm.. I think I agree with everything you said.. I was so dissaonted in the show. It seemed to jump aorudn adn where were the flying Mary Poppins or Dumbo? Also the Dumbo music just isn't strong enough for a whoel section of the show. I also think it really needs more actual fireworks.. I never noticed how they are nearlyl all ont he left side of the castle.. is there a reason for this? I was watching form halway down Main ST and my view was blocked by a tree.. I watched on Staurdya night from the station and it was a much better view but the show was still just blah.. However the girl I was there wiht had never seen disney fireworks before and she was well impressed.

khandrm, welcome to the boards. I am sorry your first post expresses so much disappointment. In answer to a couple of your observations:

>>It was blogged to be the best show in DL history. NO WAY NO HOW NEVER......<<
I was not aware that anyone was saying this was Disneyland's best show ever. The 50th fireworks will almost certainly take that place for many years to come. Magical is clearly a return to the scale of Believe and Wishes.

>>First how dare disney use another voice over for Mary Poppins.<<
A single performer was used for all solo parts. Perhaps this was to compensate for the lack of "flow" you are concerned about. I didn't get the sense they were "replacing" Mary Poppins-- just that her role was being related by the performer.

>>No Dumbo...????<<
Sorry you missed Dumbo. Dumbo was quite charming on Thursday (see the photos in the LP article), and I am sure they will work hard to make sure he appears next time.

EmmeJayne, Mary Poppins was not scheduled to fly in Magical. The main fireworks launch has always been just to the left of the castle. (Most of us regulars tend to stand over to the right to compensate!) And while Baby Mine is a rather quiet number, many like the contrast with the livelier parts of the show.

Every new fireworks presentation will have its good and bad points. I am glad to see that Disneyland continues to get new shows on a regular basis.

"The main fireworks launch has always been just to the left of the castle."

This is the only real issue I have with DL's fireworks shows. They really ought to be centered behind the Castle. The new show looks great.

I was in Southern California and the Park on Friday evening, June 5th and saw an abbreviated fireworks show. And I just saw the fireworks as I was on the top level of the Mark Twain and couldn't hear the narration or music. Dumbo didn't fly that evening, but I wouldn't have seen him fly if he did from where I was. The next day Tony Baxter told me that when Dumbo flies it is pretty spectacular.

I did notice some differences in the actual fireworks that I don't remember from before. When they fired the silver 'waterfall' fireworks they each ended with a short burst of blue. It looked very nice.

I do look forward to seeing the entire show when I am in the Park in July.

Dumbo does it for me! I hope that they can work Dumbo into the show at WDW. I know that they would probably have to re-do Tinkerbell's cable (Tink flies down at an angle from the tower towards Tomorrowland) but that was such a special moment in the show that just watching the video, I completely broke down during the Dumbo sequence.
