| joeysmommy Thu 6/18/2009 10:13a | I should have listened to all of your warnings about the Del Sol Inn! I thought I'd give it a try since Hojo's was booked last week. I went to get in bed our first night at 12am and found hairs in the sheets that were not mine. I also saw a little bug crawling around when I lifted up the pillow. I read bedbugger.com before leaving (also learned about that on LP..thank you!) so I knew what a bedbug looked like.
I pulled the mattress back to look between the headboard and the mattress and I found a dead big red bug..yes a bed bug!1/4 inch by 1/2 inch!! Big enough to pick up with a napkin and take a picture of it. I pulled back the sheets to inspect the mattress which looked about 10 years old. They didn't even have a mattress pad on it- there was a nasty looking mattresscover thing that was in bad need of laundering. I also saw little tiny blood stains- another indicator of bed bugs biting- yuck! I checked all the other beds while trying not to wake the kids up and couldn't see any other visible bugs so I called the front desk to complain and of course they were booked and only had a a 1 king room available. We were in a 2 queen/ bunkbed "suite" with 6 people. And had completely unpacked and settled in. At that point I figured if my room was gross then they were all just as disgusting. So I stripped the bed and and asked for all new bedding including bedspread and pillows. UGH! The pillows were all yellow stained..I'm going to hope it was drool stains and not something worse. I changed my own sheets after waiting forever fo the front desk person to bring new sheets. He forgot the pillows and bedspread and sheets so had to wait, mean while I had to move my 7 year old onto the floor while all this is happening. The guy at the front desk did not sound surprised about the bugs.
I called around trying to find someplace to move to the next day..everyone was booked : ( I saved the bug to show the manager so they didn;t think I was crazy. He said it wasn't a bedbug but a cockroach. Yeah..that makes me feel sooooo much better. I told him I know what a cockroach looks like and it wasn't a cockroach. I told him I read bedbugger.com before coming and I knew it was a bedbug. He bacame hostile after I mentioned bedbugger.com..hmm a little defensive are we?
I told him I wanted 2 of the 5 nights comped since I barely got any sleep the entire stay. He said that was not possible and that they don't have bedbugs and when I asked for his supervisor's card he said he didn't have one. After we checked out we ate lunch by the pool, we noticed he quickly had the exterminator come and spray our room and didn't see us there. I told him "I thought you didn't have bugs." He smirked his smug little smirk and walked away.
We slept on top of the bedspread all week, I was afraid that the bugs were deep inside the mattress waiting for body heat to come out and bite. We do have some little bites, not sure if they are from that or being outside.
I did read about another poster who siad they double charged her credit card so I will be inspecting my bill too.
Next time I will listen to you all- I should have never doubted you!! |

I suppose you could report them to the Orange County health service:
Environmental Health 1241 East Dyer Road, Suite 120 Santa Ana, CA 92705 Voice (714) 433-6000 Fax (714) 433-6423
Don't know whet they would do though.

I am SO sorry you also had a bad time there.
And now I feel itchy! :)
Also, make sure you write a report for tripadvisor.com. So many people check there, too.
Write to the corporate office as well. |

| joeysmommy Thu 6/18/2009 7:52p | I'm not a super fussy person but I just couldn't get past that bug. I think I might call the Health Department. Also, we were upstairs and the floors were super squeaky every time we walked around.I figured it had to be driving the people downstairs crazy.
I really wanted the Del Sol to work out since it was sooo close to the crosswalk. The pool was nice and the hot tub was wonderful after a long day in the park. Altho that long walk through the Denny's parking lot made my kids a little whiny on the last leg of the day. They asked why we didn't just stay at the Park Vue Inn.
I have Hojo's booked for September so I won't have this problem next time. I only like happy surprises : ) |

$50-60 for a 3* hotel. And no bedbugs.
Sorry to hear of your adventure joeysmommy. |

| Rider 1 Fri 6/19/2009 12:22a | Here's something that speaks volumes - The Del Sol hotel is NOT listed as an option on the Disney web site as a "Good neighbour hotel".
Even Disney won't support it.
