Boom! has acquired the comic book license for Mickey, Donald and the gang. Boom! currently publishes comics based on Cars, The Incredibles, Toy Story, and Muppets. This September they will add Walt Disney Comics and Stories #699 and Mickey Mouse and Friends #297.
The work will be done through Disney Italia, who has been very active producing comics for the european market.
They will begin with new stories and WDC&S will deal with a more superhero world (Duck Avenger, Super Goof, etc) while Mickey Mouse and Friends will deal in more of a d&d world (Mickey is a student of the great wizard Grandalf...)

The books will be full color, 24 pages, and a cover price of $2.99.

I'm glad to see Disney comics are back!

Did they also pick up "Uncle Scrooge" comics?

I believe that Uncle Scrooge would be in the characters acquired, but for some reason, his book is not being published yet. I say yet because Boom has stated there will be more titles in the (near?) future. It will be interesting since they are only working with new material.
I believe we have seen all of the Don Rosa stories from overseas at this point, and all of the Carl Barks stories have been reprinted numerous times. Perhaps a new perspective will turn out ok, but I think they have a long ways to go to match up to Barks and Rosa.

I agree, Robert. Carl Barks and Don Rosa are the best.

I'll mention Boom acquiring and publishing to my local comic book store and see if they have any more info.

Thanks.

George,

I have a little more info on my blog at alwaysdisney.com, and I will post some images they are using for ads in the latest Previews.

I will try to do a new podcast this week and see if I can dig up some more info.
