***Sorry. It was an udon place. Yes, first floor food court. Cheap and good.***

Oh, okay.

The udon place is good, but the Chinese place there has a beef ramen dish (that was my guess about your lunch) that is to die for.

Make sure and try it next time. ;)

<<< KA to me was like nothing I'd ever experienced. So epic in scale and story. >>>

It's certainly been the CdS show that I've seen that the closest to anything resembling a "plot", even though it was was very loose.

<<< Zed was more traditional Cirque. It ranks really high, above La Nouba for sure. >>>

Just about ANY CdS ranks above La Nouba :-)

<<< I sort of feel like it needed a grander finale act, but I was so satisfied by the variety. Can't wait to get the soundtrack. It was beautiful. >>>

Zed soundtrack was published just last week!

*** We rushed over to find everyone in the damn park in line for Monsters and no line for Star Tours. ***

Shame you didn't check out Star Tours as the queue building is worth a look, as its a bit differnt to other versions. Sorry your trip to the Tokyo Disney Resort didn't get of to a good start but by the sounds of things by the end of the trip you ended up having a good time.

*** Kyoto was also very very beautiful. Can't wait to go back. ***

Oh cool I'd be interested to read your thoughts on Kyoto if you have the time?

The post attraction stuff interests me too, afaik it's all unique to Tokyo (the bridge out, the alien sitting in that booth, the walkways to the restaurant etc...).

<<Just about ANY CdS ranks above La Nouba :-)>>

I love La Nouba and have seen it 6 times. Still one of my favorites.

<<Oh cool I'd be interested to read your thoughts on Kyoto if you have the time? >

Sure.

We went around and visited the Gold and Silver Pavilions which had really beautiful gardens and landscaping.

We went to the Ryoan-ji Temple to visit the Rock Garden. You're supposed to sit and stare until you gain some enlightening. It was really very neat. We also ate the Yudofu, which they are apparently known for, but it just ended up being really really pricey tofu in water.

We toured the Nijo Castle which was huge. Some very nice gardens and artwork inside. The history of the creaking floorboards was really interesting.

The most popular temple seemed to be the Kiyomizu Temple which is really high up on a hill. You're supposed to lean out over the railing and leave all your troubles behind. We also saw the famous kissing stones. It was really crowded when we went with schools, but had an incredible view and was very refreshing.

We also visited the Heian Shrine which has maybe the most beautiful garden in Kyoto.

Also in Kyoto was the best Ramen I've ever had at Honke Dai-ichi Asahi. There was a long line out the door, so we knew we were in good hands. We also had Burnt Ramen from Gogyo, which is a more trendy ramen place. It was really good, but burned in lard makes for a heavy feeling. Didn't feel well after.

We also had some okonomiyaki from a crazy looking place with a statue of a dog pulling a boy's underwear down. Hilarious. Anyone know the name of this place?

Sounds as though you had a great trip, touching on some excellent highlights of two areas in a relatively short period of time (glad to hear you got some great ramen and other goodies).

Baloo's, take note. ;)

<--needs to get back to Kyoto one of these days.

Yes, that's the statue!

I did have a great time. I'm looking at this trip as a sampler because I definitely want to return and really explore Tokyo and other areas. Thanks!

Agreed and is often over looked by first time visitors, shame.

Santa Monica sounds like you had a good time in Kyoto, I'm taking note of the places you visited because I'm in the process of plannnig a visit to Kyoto for myself in March. So I'm starting to build an ittinerary in my mind. Thanks for sharing this by the way!
