I have heard about parent/baby passes where one parent goes on the ride and the other stays with the child, then when that parent gets off the one who waited gets to go without waiting again. will that work for a 3 year old who is too short to ride Splash Mountain? How strict are they on the heighth limit? I measured here the other day at 38 inches with her tennis shoes. I'm gonna try her in her Keens to see if she's any taller and there is still 5 weeks, she could grow an inch. If I can get her to 39 inches and put her hair up in a bun will I be able to get her on Splash mountain? As far as other things that she definately can't do can we do that parent baby thing for a kid that's just too short or does it have to be a baby? and do we just ask at the front of the line for this perk?
Thanks as you can see I'm just now realizing our trip is only about a month from now so we'd better get the details worked out.

First there is a reason for the hieght requirements, so if you cheat the system and your child is injured are you okay with that?

They do check hieghts.

When you get to a CM working (on Splash they are right before you go into the building) you ask for a baby switch pass. In the past I have had them measure my child, or at least ask to see the child (probably because of people without kids asking for one to get a second ride) and they hand you a paper that says child swap (or something like that). They will then tell you where you will re-enter to use the pass, sometimes it's the fastpass line, sometimes it's the exit.

You can use this for Soarin, Grizzly, Space and any others the child is too small for.

They are pretty strict with the height measurements. I believe the issue is with the seatbelts or lap bars hitting the child in the right or wrong spot. The shoes would probably work but they would push the hair down. I've seen many children make it past the first CM and then turned away by the CM at loading. They have height measurements at the entrance and near the CM who loads the ride.

I don't know how to do a link for you but check out DL General around post 100. There is a thread with some info about how it works (and doesn't work.)

The child swap is available for any child too small to go on the rides, regardless of age. If you have a really young child who meets the height requirement but is too scared to go on they will usually let you do it too.

Yeah the hair ain't gonna do it but the shoes might work.

Keep in mind Splash Mountain has no lap bar or safety belt. You are literally just sitting in the seat holding on to the bars on the sides. You're not even in someone's lap. This is one I would think twice about putting a small one on.

when my youngest was 3 she went on splash and space. she was tall enough but it still scared the ..... out of me and I think the whole ride I was so worried about her that I did not really enjoy it. she was fine though, but on splash I had her sit with dh in the double seat in the back so he could hold her really tight.

we have used the child swap for indy and they just have you go in the fast pass line after your first party returns. we also did it on space when our friends 7 yo was to scared to ride and that was fine.

Right I forgot about the openness of Splash mountain! Darn for her, it's going to be so hot and both water rides she'll be too small for. I remember thinking I was going to squick my poor son in Big Thunder Mountain when we went when he was 3 I barely enjoyed it as I was holding on trying to keep myself on my own side of hte car. OK. Sounds like we'll be using the parent switch pass. Thanks for all the input.

There is a water play area near the entrance of It's tough to be a bug, and another one in Bugland. We would hang out there while the bigger kids did the rides the small fry couldn't.
