Kim remembers what made Wayne Allwine, the voice of Mickey Mouse, so special to her, and in the process recounts one of his appearances at the NFFC Convention.

Great piece, Kim! You just can't think about Wayne and not tear up. It's amazing how many wonderful memories he gave all of us.

That was a beautiful piece, Kim - as always. That's why I'm going to miss not having you write for me anymore.

Thanks Bob -

It's wierd, I spent my birthday at the DLR today - wonderful, sunny, brezzy, warm SoCal day -and went to Mickey's House to have my annual photo taken with my main mouse - as I walked through the living room, the soundtrack from Mickey's answering machine was playing - and I heard Wayne's voice saying "Hi ya Pal!" and I got all teary-eyed - I miss him but I'm grateful for every minute I was able to spend with him.

He taught so many so much - an amazing legacy of love and laughter to leave behind.

Thanks Kim - Very lovely piece and you conveyed our sorrow so well.

I met Wayne and Russi a few times but the first time I think fate had a hand. At one of the NFFC luncheons with a legend we ended up at their table with our son who was then ten. Wayne and Russi treated is like long-lost family and especially our son, who was completely enthralled. We had only just moved to California and my son said he wished he could share this with one of his friends back east. Wayne told him to call his friend and then they both preceeded to speak with this young man 3,000 miles away, who I think had his jaw on the ground the whole time. We would see them at events and signings and they always just picked up where we left off. I also remember how much time they spent with the LP fans at our first really big meet. They made sure everyone had time with them. These are lovely people and the world can learn a lesson from the love and joy they shared with eachother and how it simply glowed from them.
