| tashajilek Thu 8/20/2009 9:16a | I am coming to la for 2 weeks in october mid october to be exact all the way through halloween time. The main reason was because i really wanted to go to knotts scary farm. I wanted to know if it really is all that it is worked up to be? i am also aware to not go during the week. I would also like to know where the best place to get cheaper passes and if the buffet is a good idea? Thanks i would really appretiate all the help i can get. |

The buffet food is not that great, but IMO, it is worth it because you get into the park a half hour before anyone who doesn't do the buffet does. Why is this a plus? Because you can do the log ride and the mine ride and probably a few mazes before the crowd gets large. Or, if you are a coaster rider, you can go on GhostRider rather quickly before the crowds form.
I prefer to go during the week. The crowds are lighter and everything still functions the same as on a weekend. The only plus to going on a Friday or Saturday is that you get to stay a few more hours than during the week.
As far as discounts - Some companies give their employers really good coupons - but if you go onto ticketmaster for the event and use backslash JOECOOL you can usually get a great discount. Also check at various fast food restaurants like Burger King or Carl's Jr. They usually start having coupons at the beginning of September.
One piece of advice: Do not miss the Hanging that is done in Calico square. It is usually pretty entertaining and hilarious. Most of the other shows are hit and miss, but the Hanging is usually spot on.
Here is a website that is very helpful in finding out what will be happening. It also gives you the history if you are interested.

| tashajilek Tue 8/25/2009 8:13a | Cool i will make sure to reserve soon. Does anyone know if you make a reservation for a earlier buffet if you get in the park earlier? for example there was a 5pm and 530 buffet if you chose the 5pm would you get in earlier then the 530 buffet or would it be the same time? |

| crapshoot Thu 9/17/2009 9:57p | Same - same. Early admission is not all that early. But there is pleanty of time to head to Mine Ride and Log Ride before the throngs of people are let in.
Mazes constantly flowing, a few may have capacity limits enforced, but for the most part they keep flowing. |

But I have also gotten others, earlier this year, I found some kittens near Whitewater Snacks. |
