This is my first trip report, so bear with me. The dates are many, so I'll spare a lot of the details.

We flew into LGB on the 5th and activated our Deluxe APs. I said a silent thank you to Darkbeer was we entered the turnstiles and was told it was a black out date. I politely mentioned to the CM the first day of an AP is never blacked out. He agreed and let us in to DL. Yeah!

Totally jetlagged, we kept our expectations low. We saw the 6:30 PM parade, and 9 PM Fantasmic. Murphy was out -- what a treat! We actually sat still for 90 minutes to get a good spot. DD (7 years old) fell asleep waiting for the show. As for the parade, DD was dressed as Wendy Darling and loved that Peter Pan and Wendy noticed her and blew her extra kisses in the parade.

The 6th was also a blackout day, as well as the day of the Disney Half Marathon. We saw two women walk by dressed as Tink and Belle, wearing runners numbers. Very cute! Makes me want to train and run it some year.

The 6th is special to me because it is my birthday. Friends arranged for us to have dinner at Club 33. It was beyond our expectations! Our daughter was extremely well behaved. She said they have the world's best chicken nuggets (for $59 I hope so!). Eating at Club 33 includes free park admission, which threw off my birthday gift of free admission since it was an AP black out date.

I must say, it was fun walking around the park dressed up. My feet did not hurt once, even though I was wearing new heels. We took lots of pictures with the Photo Pass people in various locations. They waited for crowds to part so we could get really good shots. :) We rode Space Mountain before it was closed for the overlay. Should have bought that picture!

We went in the park earlier in the day. The Queen of Hearts bossed people into singing "Happy Birtday" to me, later Robert the Piano Player sang "Happy Birthday" to me. I smiled the whole day.

Highlights from here on out...

DD loves to dress up. Most days she was Wendy Darling. A couple of days she was Mary Poppins. A couple of other times she was other characters (a fairy not at Disney, and Jane Banks (from Mary Poppins)). Her biggest thrill was chasing Peter Pan as she was dressed as Wendy, then spending time with the fairies who "thought she looked familiar." LOL

She had fun taking small strolls with Mary Poppins. Mary seemed to enjoy seeing a girl dressed like her, too. She was often picked to be in Mary Poppins' castle show.

We spent much time with the Princesses and Fairies, and other characters. Each one made her feel special.

She played Musical Chairs most afternoons at Coke Corner with Alice, the Mad Hatter and friends.

For us the mark of a good trip is measured in the amount of rides we rode. The more rides, the less fun we are having. We went on very few rides. We did ride our favorites at least once in the 10 days, but a couple of times was enough.

The character interaction was beyond fabulous. She even loves Cruella de Vil now and gets her snarkiness.

We did venture into California Adventure a couple of times, too. We saw the Aladdin show, noting some new actors since the last time we were there. We also rode Toy Story a few times. Love that ride!

Overall the trip was a 10 on the magical scale! A great way to start our new APs. :)

I am hoping you did get a gift card for your birthday since you had park admission on your birthday!

We compromised. Since they viewed it as a comp ticket, they said I did not qualify to receive a birthday gift.

The compromise was I had to buy a $45 blackout pass in order to receive a $72 gift card. Not too often I can make that kind of return on my investment, and I was tired of arguing on my birthday, so I took it.

A free dinner would have been nicer, though. ;)

I enjoyed your trip report.
I didn't know they still played musical chairs. My son and daughter played musical chairs with the Mad Hatter, Chip and Launchpad back in 1994. My son, 7 at the time won and my daughter was 4 at the time and dressesd as Alice. The paino player played a very merry unbirthday for her as she danced with Chip.
Your trip report brought back this wonderful memory. I'm glad your daughter got speacial attention from the charactors.

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip :) Taking your time and letting your daughter play with the characters must have been so heart warming. Very cute that the fairies thought she looked familiar :)

What a wonderful trip report. It sounds like your daughter was the perfect age to enjoy the park. It sounds so happy and magical that I'm sitting here smiling. Thanks for sharing!
