OLC have decided to replace Tokyo DisneySea's BraviSEAmo! with Fantasmic! in 2012. OLC opted not to pick up the World of Color show as it was deemed too complex for Mediterranean Harbor. Fantasmic! is likely to be presented in slightly altered version from the current Disneyland incarnation. |

Seeing as there is no island for the land-based displays, I'm wondering if they will use a large central barge. It's also quite puzzling what they will do in place of the Peter Pan and Mark Twain scenes (I can't imagine them building large-scale watercraft along with their respective tracks). |

Some of the Mythica barges are pretty impressive, so I don't see why they wouldn't do it for F!. I doubt they would use tracks to guide whatever watercraft they end up using, since they've already done several shows that use drivers who stear their boats (Mythica, BraviSEAmo and Harborside Christmas all do that).
The tricky part would be figuring out how to make a 'stage' work for that area. The harbor is much larger than either ROA at DL or the stadium in the Studios, so sightlines will be an issue. I've often thought about a show using fast-moving barges with performers on them for the World Showcase Lagoon in Epcot, so I suppose something like that might work here. They could have a central 'stage' barge that's stationary in the middle of the harbor, and have many other barges (bigger than the monkey/princess ones in the current versions) that make appearances for their respective acts.
With all the issues of presenting the show that they'll face, I would assume that they will make their own changes to make another unique show. Using different characters (I can't imagine how they could fit Stitch into the show, but I also can't imagine the show in Tokyo without him) and a slightly different story line, along with the very unique setting, I'm sure there will be enough differences in the various incarnations of the show that it will be pretty entertaining. |

Great news there :). I was happy if they got WOC (assuming it will be phenonmenal) but this is just as good. I still think it was a mistake they didnt have Fantasmic in the park the first year to begin with other than that Mickey Orchestra thing or whatever it was. I mean, yeah, they were already spending a ton of cash, so it was understandable. BUT, that wouldve been a better crowd pleaser for sure.
I think if Fantasmic really come, it will be a must-see, which frankly, out of ALL the night shows I've seen there, none have ever really been. You see them once and no desire to see them again, especially BraviGAYmo!!! |
