Very true. Getting to and from the park is no more than an elevator ride away. You have a special entrance just under the main lobby that basically opens up into Mediterranean Harbor so you don't have to exit the hotel and walk over to the main gates.
The MiraCosta physically makes up that part of the park so watching from your room (especially if you are lucky enough to have one with a balcony or terrace) is no different from the guests directly below you. In fact, you have the benefit of having an undisturbed and intimate viewing spot. Simply dim all lights in the room, open the windows, and immerse yourself; the experience is just as magical as being on the ground level. |

We would like to spend a few days visiting the 'must see' tourist attractions as well as just taking the whole place in. I don't know much about the place but I already know I'm going to love it!
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! As a bit of background - I'm a cybernetician by trade so I'm very in to my gadgets, electronics etc. I've also studied Karate for many years and I love the traditional side of the art. My wife is an artist and very much into anime. I think this means we're basically going to have too much to fit in! |

Reading what you have all said about watching the show from the room - it's now a real possibility. I was previously under the impression that the view / experience might not be so great from the rooms but now it might just be another reason to upgrade.
I guess in the end it all comes down to cost. We should be able to get the prices in a few days and we'll make our decision then.
Malin - I was just looking at the Zed show the other night and I'm pretty keen to go - I've certainly been impressed with (most) other Cirque shows.

Perfect. You can kill two birds with one stone by spending some time in Akihabara, the capital of electronics AND anime in Tokyo. :)
As for the room with a view, you can certainly play it by ear and perhaps being in the crowd is more fun for you but if I had a harbor view room, I'd use it (it's great that you're staying at the Mira Costa in any case, it's very easy to head back to the room for a rest or to change (the weather can be fickle in April), even from TDL its only a quick monorail ride away, no different from staying at the Polynesian or something like that). |

| SeaTokyo Fri 10/16/2009 3:22a | have you looked into a TOKYO DISNEY RESORT VACATION package? I finally bought one earlier this year and it comes with some nice extras, such as a travel bag, pins, monorail passes and best of all FAST PASSES!
the fast passes came in handy at TDL since MONSTERS INC just opened and the wait was over 3 hours.
you of course pay more for the package, but it's the way to go if you want to enjoy TDR in style. |

Particularly if someone is coming from far away and it's one of those "once in a lifetime" sort of things. ;)

I about fell over when I recently looked at the price of the Harbour view rooms. |

| SeaTokyo Fri 10/16/2009 5:40a | yes the MIRACOSTA is overpriced but still worth it for that once in a life-time visit.
when you book make sure you get HARBOR VIEW as there are many room types, including partial views.
also, don't forget in japan room rates are PER PERSON. so if the room rate says $300 per night, that will be $600 for two. |

| davewasbaloo Fri 10/16/2009 5:44a | Even at TDL? We are 4 people, so does that mean the $500 a night harbour view room would be $2000 a night? |

| philo Fri 10/16/2009 5:58a | Thanks for the advice although I'm not sure the vacation package is right for us as we live in the UK and all the info seemed to suggest you fly from LA. We have already booked our flights too and got a good deal. I will remember the package for next time though.
Of course, if I'm mistaken and there ISVs way to take advantage of the package then plese fill me in.
Thanks again for all the help guys!
Ps. Just foundout that Ride and Go Seek will be closed for our trip. Bit disapointed but I'm sure there are many more attractions to amaze me! |
