Hi everyone we need a little help. My husband and I have a chance to possibly go to Tokyo next month from Nov. 19 to the 25th. We have never been there and would love to go to TDL and TDS, I have looked but all the Disney hotels are booked, so if we stay in Tokyo is it possible to go back and forth for two days? Also I have read that if they are full the parks “close” and will not let any more guests in? Where would we purchase tickets? Any other suggestions we are open.

Yes its very easy to visit the parks from Tokyo using the trains. Hoping other members will chime in now and offer you some good hotel recomendations, that are within easy distance to the Resort via trains.

Providing you have pre purchased dated tickets from the Tokyo Disney Resort Welcome Centre you will have no worries about getting into the park, even if it hits full capacity. When the park does reach full capacity day ticket sales are usually stopped and Annual Passholders are blocked, but the Resort does honour Guest who have already purchased Park Tickets in advance.

<<< but the Resort does honour Guest who have already purchased Park Tickets in advance. >>>

More specifically, it honors guests who have purchased *dated* tickets in advance. The dated ticket is locked down to a particular day, and in effect saves you a spot for that day.

It's also possible to purchase undated tickets in advance, such as if you want to give a gift to someone. Those turn into dated tickets only upon first use in the turnstile on the day you use them, but this will not be possible if they've stopped selling tickets that day by the time you arrive (at least until later in the day when crowds start to thin out).

So, if you buy tickets upon arrival in Japan for a date later on in your trip, be sure to get dated tickets.

<<< We have never been there and would love to go to TDL and TDS, I have looked but all the Disney hotels are booked, so if we stay in Tokyo is it possible to go back and forth for two days? >>>

It's possible, but I strongly recommend staying on-site at the resort during the days you want to spend in the resort, and staying in town on the days you plan to visit Tokyo. Otherwise, you eat up a lot of time commuting, rule out mid-day rests, and I think you're missing out on something if you skip the vibes of either a resort stay or an in-town stay.

Keep in mind that at TDR, there are several Official yet non-Disney hotels on property. They're on the monorail loop, so they very much provide a resort experience. Specifically, check out the Hilton or Sheraton Tokyo Bay. They're easy to book from the US on the web. Checking briefly, I saw at least one two-night block during your stay when the Sheraton is available. The Hilton might be as well. If those don't work out, check out the other Official hotels, although those are going to be harder to book from the US.

Thanks I will check the Sheraton, I just saw a room at one of the Disney Hotels but I am having a problem with booking it, so I might have to call them, something about how many people in each bed?

Also does anyone know, do they have Hopper tickets or only one day one park tickets?

They have 1, 2, 3, and 4-day tickets. Only the 3 and 4 days tickets are hoppers, and only on the 3rd and 4th days. If you want to hop on the other days, you're out of luck, unless you buy an evening ticket for the other park (which I guess could be considered a park-hopper surcharge of sorts if you want to look at it that way).

Also, I forgot to mentioned that one of the benefits of all of the Official (non-Disney) and Disney hotels on site is that you get guaranteed admission on your days of stay. So, even if you book at the Sheraton or Hilton, you don't have to worry about buying tickets in advance.

Thank you for the update, I just tried the Sheraton and they do have rooms when we might be there, (only problem is no non smoking rooms) so I might book there, just to make it easier. I am going home to talk to my husband to see what he wants to do.

I forgot to mention: non-smoking rooms are not a problem at the Sheraton, but for some reason they don't load them into the central reservation computer. So, both the website and US central reservations will act as if non-smoking is "sold out." What you need to do is make the reservation into a smoking room (the only kind they ever make available) and put "REQ NON-SMOKING" in the comments field of the reservation. Either do it yourself or have the phone agent do it for you. I've stayed there many times and have never had a problem getting a non-smoking room by doing this. And, unlike in the US, the hotel will actually read the comments field several days prior to your arrival, and will block off an appropriate room rather than just read it when you check in and act like there's nothing that can be done.

While I think SuperDry brings up some good benefits for staying on site, like mid day rest and a shorter commute to the parks, plus having the vibe of staying at the Resort, you should also take into account that hotel rooms do cost more on site than in Tokyo. Also depending on where your staying its really not that much of a long commute by the trains to the Resort. From the central Tokyo Station for instance I believe its only a 10-12 minute ride. Alright it might restrict you from returning to the hotel for a rest but with only a couple of short days at the Resort anyway you will likely spend most of your time at the parks anyway.

Out of interest what hotel did you plan on staying at in Tokyo, as if the journey is not to far you may be in a better position to stay where you are, instead of moving hotels during the trip. May I recomend perhaps if you don't get the room your after on site to try one of the good neighbour hotels or the partner hotels that offer Complimentary Shuttle Bus Service
