Got back from a short weekend in Orlando and tried out the fairly new "Lake Eve Resort". This is not a "flagship" hotel but we saw many good reviews on Travelocity and they had some great Florida resident specials going.

We got a two bedroom/two bath suite (with full kitchen) for $79 per night. (Again, a special rate on Travelocity.) When we checked into our room both my wife and I were stunned with what we were getting for that price.

The resort is 14 stories and overlooks a lake and large pool (no slide) but with a small kiddie waving pool and jacuzzi. The room had 3 large flat panel tvs (one each in the two bedrooms and one in the living room).

The kitchen was stocked with dishes, silverware, coffeemaker etc. Stove, microwave, full sized refrigerator, granite countertops. There was a dining room table that could seat 6.

I took issue with the fact that there was no in-room hotel information (so we didn't eat at the restaurant). But, I sent a note to the General Manager after my stay and he addressed a few of the minor shortcomings I pointed at and said, as the GM for only 8 weeks, he was working on improving the details.

This resort is on the International Drive South extension that runs between the Central Florida Parkway and World Center Drive.

The Orlando Premium Outlets are nearby and it is an easy drive (less than 10 mintues) to Sea World/Discovery Cove/Aquatica. I'd say 15 to 20 minutes to Downtown Disney. 20 minutes to Epcot via World Center Drive. 30 minutes to the Magic Kingdom/Animal Kingdom. 30 minutes to Universal but it might be shorter than that since I got turned around.

I'm not one to post reviews often but in the this day and age it is rare when I am pleasantly surprised anymore. If staying on property is not critical and you need the space like I do...I'd recommend you giving Lake Eve Resort a try.

Wow, sounds like a very nice place at a bargain of a price! Got any pics?
