After the busy day at DLR on October 10 we didn’t know what to expect when we went back to take the granddaughter but what a nice day it was. Hot but not crowded at all. Here are some highlights.

After a potty break we went to meet Papa at the Haunted Mansion. As we made our way just before the French Market we saw a pirate cross our path and the granddaughter (3 ½ years) was so excited to see a girl pirate. She told her hi and she came over to talk with us. The pirate then pulled out her kerchief and picked a pink jewel out and handed it to the granddaughter. Wow! That jewel was taken out and looked at many times during the day. A very special Disney moment for her.

We managed to go on several rides. HMH, Pirates, Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain and Pooh. This was my first time on Splash but I had promised that I would try it. She has been on it two or three times already. We had ponchos but I decided we could forgo them since it was so hot. Mistake. We got soaked. Luckily we dried off quickly. Then we saw Winnie the Pooh , Tigger and Eyore.

Granddaughter took a nap for about an hour while we staked out a spot for Celebration. She loves this thing and gets right out there and shakes her booty when she gets asked. Too cute! Fireworks were early, at 8pm, so we just kept our spots and ate dinner while waiting. We also made friends with another family and their two girls so the time went by quickly. Papa also took her on the rocket ships while we were waiting. The fireworks were great. We had shown her movies of them so she was not scared and she knew what to expect.

After that we used our Buzz fastpasses and then went home. A great day.

Grandparent - grandchildren days at DL are always special, aren't they? Especially when the park is not too busy.

What a wonderful laid-back day. It sounds like your graddaughter had a great time, and you did a terrific job. It's kids like that enjoying the parks that elevates it to a higher level for me.
