I've always tried to remember to offer that caveat. However, I *do* think that in the event of another downturn, Fox News etc. have done sufficient stirring up to cause some, for lack of a more innocuous term, insurrection among some of our more excitable citizens, at least a few of whom are on this board.

World War III? I sure hope not.
And what about those upcoming few years? They're what I'm worried about. |

They're going to likely be better than Sept 2008. It'll be a struggle but I think we'll see continued improvement in housing, retail sales. Not a straight vertical line, but trending upward out of the abyss. |

There is no factual basis for this opinion.
The growth in both items for this quarter was directly the result of government stimulus money. The numbers prove that.
And the government can't prop up the economy indefinitely. It will be Weimar-Germany-catastrophic for the US$ if they try. |

Growth can spur more growth. That's why it's called "stimulus." |

Recession may be bad here too but hey, at least I have guaranteed health care. ;) |

| davewasbaloo Sat 10/31/2009 12:10a | I hear you X - and thank goodness with all the medical problems in my family lately. I was laid off in May and set up my own company. I have had almost weekly medical appointments since July. I fear this would not have been the case had I still have been in the US. |

Unless you had no pre-existing conditions, of course. |
