I didn't realize you had to go to DL or be at a major meet to qualify. I thought the point of the Golden Doobies was fun. Most of the awards listed are funny and lighthearted.

I really didn't know it was something some have taken so seriously.

You just have to be on the boards...no DL or WDW experience necessary.

If you get an award it's because something you said or did or discussed stuck in the memory of another LPer. Some of the nomination descriptions are a hoot, aren't they?? LOL

>>EVERYONE from the Smed Thread won a Golden Doobie EXCEPT for ME<<

Ya know, I never read or even SAW the "smed thread" so I would have no idea who was in it or what they said there... I don't think the awards are about popularity per se, and definitely not about attending meets, I think it's more about your presence/personality on the boards.

People getting offended or ticked off about it really defeats the purpose, and makes it seem like a waste of my time.

This is going to be my very first
Golden Doobie meet , as a Big Bonus for me and most likely for many others it is being held at Christmas time a most Magical Enchanting time of year..happens to be my most favorite time of year, although i will be sad cause my snow white can't be there with me ,there is too much to gain to lose I believe, I think that we all would love to capture a Golden Doobie , for me , absolutely ,
a Christmas Golden Doobie would be so wonderful, so special to me, just as special and wonderful for me would to watch the surprise on the faces of everyone who are selected , i am bringing a mirror in case i am one, of course i have to be nominated , that has to happen first..but just to be there, that is the truest fun of it all, I am sure there are only so many awards to be given out, surely not enough for everyone, although i still hope everyone wins one, wishing, wishing, wishing, hey there " a goofy guy, "
Maybe you will win that elusive Golden Doobie Award , you just never know, hang in there, if this year it doesn't happen , don't you worry with friends such a murfsmum, shiva, tinkeroon, westwind, parsecs, beth, clones, miss pb, mr pb, doobie, lulu, Lady S, Haunts999 , jazzcat, and so so so so so so many others you'll always be a winner.
Take care...wishing for you, you just never know...whats going to happen...
well see you soon..I see a whimiscal side in your post, you have a lot of a GOOFY GUYS fun in your heart, it is going to be a fun fun time, that is for sure...: ) : )

I can see LuLu's point.

But I will say, LuLu I think the majority of the people here really appreciate the work you put into the Golden Doobies.

a goofy guy... Are you serious? LuLu is on here trying to keep the community together and you come in here with an attitude like a spoiled child. I'm disappointed.

Thanks Mbf, I'm sure that's true.

I do think this topic has outlived its necessity and I'll ask for it to be closed. But I really appreciate all the great nominations; everyone came thru in abundance!

LuLu, many, many LPers are hugely grateful to you for your work on this each year. I'm very sorry if you've been made to feel that your efforts aren't appreciated.

Personally, I would love to see all begging for Golden Doobies, overt or subtle go away. And I would also like to see the topics which ask something along the lines of "which LPers would you like to meet?" go away, as every single time they have been started throughout the years, they lead to a barrage of hurt feelings and people pointing out that no one mentioned their name, or some particular person didn't include them in their list of who they like or want to meet or whatever. None of this is community building, to put it very mildly.
