| disney pete Mon 11/2/2009 8:02a | This place is amazing we rolled up at 9am to big lines but they go quite fast,as seafairy has said they take your pic give you your id and you are on your way,we where given 1pm at sand dollar cove as our allotted time for the dolphin experience, they told us where to go for breakfast but we had already eaten at the villa not knowing they provide breakfast lunch snacks and all you can drink in the price,so we go pick up our towels, snorkels and sun cream and find a sunbed,we had a walk around to get our bearings and had a nice chat with one of the ladies who train the dolphins she also fills in in other spots in the park, once we knew where everything was we donned our snorkels and went into the lagoon where you can snorkel with rays ,sharks and a host of different fishies it was cold but very very cool, then onto a lazy river where you can snorkel or just swim it was much warmer here then we decided to go have 30 minutes sunbatheing before getting ready for our dolphin experience and this is where it gets better, there was just 8 of us plus 2 trainers in our lagoon where we met our dolphin THELMA she was the dominant female of them there is 46 dolphins all in all but she was sooooooooo cute,we got to feed her,rub her tummy take pics with us kissing her and holding her then the trainer got her to do some tricks before we are led out to deep water where thelma then pulls you about 30 foot to the shallows, the whole thing is videoed and pics taken if you want to purchase them we bought the dvd and got 7 5x7 pics and a photo album and 2 key fobs for $159 well worth the money, after that we went to eat and i have to say the food was amazing, after another small lie in the sun we went to the stingray lagoon where we got to feed them another great highlight, then it was of to the aviary that was great also another swim in the seawater lagoon before it was time to shower and leave i am so glad we done this park as it was excellent pity it closes at 5.30pm we nearly never done it as it is a bit pricey but so glad we did,we then headed over to DTD to shop a little soak up the atmosphere (i do like DTD) and then eat at Planet Hollywood food was good as always but didnt appreciate the hour wait when she told us it would be only 20 mins for some reason they wouldnt explain the middle floor was closed off anyway back to villa for 1 quick bottle of bud and glass of wine for kris before melting into the kingsized bed for a great nights sleep and to enjoy a little lie in as tomorrow is Blizzard Beach :) |

I'll pass on Planet Hollywood however. |

| WDWdreamin Mon 11/2/2009 10:56a | Wow. It does sound incredible, but I'm not sure it's worth it for us. I think we'll keep our first trip WDW-centric, and then we can add this if we make it back. DH thinks once I start going to WDW I will never stop, so shouldn't be a problem. How big are these sharks you're swimming with, btw? |

| davewasbaloo Mon 11/2/2009 12:42p | WDWdreamin - I think if you go to Florida, you do owe it to yourselves to go to Kennedy Space Centre. It is amazing! Also, Islands of Adventure is a pretty great day out if you like thrills. |

| wahooskipper Mon 11/2/2009 1:22p | The trip report sounded good so I bounced over to the Discovery Cove website. There I found that the package starts at around $500 for two people. I'm sure it is a great experience but I can do an awful lot with $500.
I'll have to see how badly the Mrs. really wants to visit. |

| davewasbaloo Mon 11/2/2009 1:24p | True Skip - but when you factor in all your food and drink, it is not a bad deal compared to let's say a day on a cruise ship and an excursion with the dolphins in the wild. |

| wahooskipper Mon 11/2/2009 1:34p | Actually, you can get some great deals on cruise ships right now (particularly if you don't need air) but I'm not much of a cruiser.
I think the Mrs would prefer I invest that $500 into a piece of jewelry. As a bonus she won't smell like a seafood salad after she puts it on.
But, I would like to try it some day. One of my favorite "little" Disney things is the reef encounter at Typhoon Lagoon. |

| WDWdreamin Mon 11/2/2009 2:12p | dwb, You're right. I forgot about Kennedy. I am sure DH wants to go there. I think he might even want to go to the gator park. I'm not into thrill rides, but a Harry Potter land makes it more tempting, I think Universal parks will be on the second trip list too. I would SOOO rather spend some time with dolphins than have jewelry, but that's me. |

| seafairy1622 Tue 12/15/2009 6:44p | Glad to hear you liked Discovery Cove. I thought it was really fun. It is expensive but it's something I always wanted to do. What an amazing thrill it is to be pulled by a dolphin! |
