| u k fan Tue 11/3/2009 1:18a | The u k fan posse were bummed that we were going to miss the big DL meet this year so we booked a surprise trip to DLP for the same weekend as a consolation and guess where we're staying?
The Marriott. Woo Hoo!
So do you guys have any tips/info that might be worth us knowing? Also the u k fan DLP Xmas shopping service will be open if there's anything you want (this is open to anyone).
I'm very excited (but also still gutted not to be in DL)!!! |

For Marriott, I would suggest you request a villa near the main pool, then everything will be in easy reach. Take some DVDs and CDs with you too!
Be sure to get some of the freshly baked goods from the shop, but for your main groceries, I recommend the Champion Supermarket (and the nearby bakery) in Bailly Romainvilliers - turn right out of the resort and it is about a 10-15 min walk or a couple of minutes in the car. Also, the restaurants of Val De Europe will deliver to your villa.
I am so excited for you. I hope you have a great time! |

| u k fan Tue 11/3/2009 3:07a | So do I! I was checking out the reviews on Trip Advisor and a lot of people are reporting maintenance issues. Having been to the resort (and hearing your reviews) I know it's usually spot-on so I hope it was just a temporary blip. Sadly it's only going to be a quick Friday to Sunday trip (the kids'll skip school on Friday), but we wish it were longer. I'm looking forward to taking my Dad to the Boulangerie as he's an ex-baker and always comes home from any holiday with a loaf of local bread!
It's been really nice to do something for Big Sis as her OH has lost his job and they're struggling at the moment. It's been 18 months since they had any kind of holiday.
I can't wait!!! |

| davewasbaloo Tue 11/3/2009 4:06a | Oh dear, well hopefully this will be just the ticket. Are you staying in a 3 bed or 2? If it is a 3, they only opened in June, so they should be in good condition.
We had a couple of issues with the air condition and the chain on the door on our unit this year. One phone call to maintenance, and most things were sorted within the hour!
That said, they are going through a refurb of the older units right now (repainting, new sofas, flat screen tvs going in). It may be that people have been unlucky in getting the older units. They give the following priorities:
Village Ile de France owner Other Marriott owners that have traded in Other time share owners that have traded in Marriott Loyalty card members on points Renters
Then again, if you are not happy, simply ask for the duty manager and they should be able to sort you out quickly. I am sure you will have a great time.
And yes, that Boulangerie is particularly nice (the one in Bailly Romainvilliers). The one on site is ok (I like it), but a discerning baker may not. Also, it is more expensive on site (so a warning).

| u k fan Tue 11/3/2009 8:01a | We're staying in a 3 so that's good to know. Incidentally, it's June where the reviews go from "Excellent" and "Superb" to "Disappointing" and "Badly-maintained". I doubt that's a coincidence.
I'm sure we'll be fine though. If we have any trouble I'll just tell them "Dave sent me"!!! |

| davewasbaloo Tue 11/3/2009 9:24a | Aha, it looks likely that the owners got the best ones in the school hols and the renters were put in the ones that need refurb. |

| u k fan Tue 11/3/2009 4:27p | Most likely.
I need to get cracking on some serious trip planning now I haven't been during the Xmas season for a while. I'm expecting it to be very busy, but we are all veterans so that's no biggie and the park's open late.
I can't wait to see Main St again!
Incidentally, I know you use the tunnel anyway, but it looks like P&O Cross Channel no longer accept Tesco points!!! |

| davewasbaloo Tue 11/3/2009 11:27p | Really? So is the tunnel the only channel option now? (well it is in my book anyway ;-) |

| u k fan Wed 11/4/2009 1:20a | Yeah, P&O only offer the use of points on Irish Ferries now. We had already planned to take the train through though as I was unsure whether we would need to wait until after school to travel and the crossing is quicker.
I will miss the ferry though as I like the chance to mooch round a bit!!! |
