Did anyone else catch the opening episode the other day? I like what I've seen so far. It seems a little "edgier" than the original, which is good. The "sleeper cell" plotline so far is much better than how the original began. We'll just have to wait and see how it pans out over the coming weeks. I just hope it doesn't go down the path of "V-The Final Battle" with the 'magical' "starchild".

I've got it recorded, but haven't watched yet, brotherdave. Planning to wait and see if my big brother wants to watch it with me - he already asked me to no erase it so that means I may hook him into watching with his lil' sis on a regular basis.

BUT, thanks for the good review so far! Paul (big bro) and I both liked the original shows back in the 80s so I have hope for this new version. :)

ORDDU: My sisters and I conjured up this new version of "V" in our crystal ball. While we certainly enjoyed it, we believe the original series had more 'heart' to it. The original cast from the original series seemed to have more charisma; more personal appeal. We also read that the producer of the original series has nothing to do with this newest version. Furthermore, the original producer of the original series is, supposedly, considering making a motion picture out of 'V'.

ORWEN: Is the world really ready for TWO versions of "V"????

ORGOCH: Been abducted?

I did manage to see it and record it as well. I like the fact that among the cast are some people who have been in other scifi shows/ movies. I also liked the fact that it was fairly fast paced. But lets face it, its a rehash of the original. So I did not see anything new with the plot.

I really enjoyed the new show, and look forward to how they're going to develop it. I'm pretty frightened by the fact that they're only airing 4 shows and then taking a break till March! I'm not sure they can develop a loyal enough following in just 4 weeks to be successful.

I work with a guy who just about worships the original mini-series, and he just HATES the new show. But then he's trying to draw way too many comparisons between current and classic characters, and trying to say stuff like "Jack wouldn't act like that at all!", etc. It's been kinda fun tormenting him with my praise of the show, but then I don't much like the guy anyway . . .

ORDDU: Really, duckling? I'm wondering if you watched the same thing as my sisters and I. We only saw certain reminders of the original. All in all, there were a lot of differences. This time around, you have F.B.I. agents suspecting something is wrong right away--instead of news reporters whom nobody wanted to take seriously. Plus there was an underlying political message to this newest version, if one cared to think deeply enough for the comparisons to current political situations going on in America today.

ORWEN: I know the producer of the original 'V' series feels this new version is very different from what he would have wanted. That's why he wants to make a movie to get his vision of 'V' back on track--or so we read in some article last week.

ORGOCH: Got lizards?

You miss my point. Yes, there are many differences between the versions, but I don't care. It's a re-visioning of the original concept, not a strict re-do of it. So they can do what they want with characters, with concepts, with subplots - whatever, just so they make a good story. And so far they've been doing that nicely.

And we've been over this before - please don't call me duckling.

ORDDU: Our post was in response to Kennesaw Tom and NOT to you any grumpy old man. You merely jumped in between the two of us.

In that case, my apologies, you moderately insane middle-aged man.

I was not as impressed with V as I thought I might be.

We did have an entire class discussion in PoliSci about if the episode was about Obama though. That was fun.
