This topic is for Discussion of the headline: Headlines: Reuters: No Evidence Found to Support Racism Claims Against Disneyland Paris
Euro Disney was accused of racial discrimination when recruiting cast members. A bailiff inspected Disneyland Paris' personnel documents and its recruitment site and found no evidence to support the charges raised by the campaign group SOS Racisme.

Interesting, and I thought this was going to be all about the preferential treatment the French get in almost every aspect of DLP. I know it is in France, but it was supposed to be a pan European experience

I would think that a business in France would give priority to employing French people.

Did I miss something?

You did Mr X. There are 22 languages spoken within a 5 hour journey of the park. Many more people learn English as a 2nd language and French is officially a dying language (e.g. less books published/films made in the language each year).

It opened as EuroDisney with a policy of 5 official languages, with French and English split 50/50.

Thankfully I am muli-lingual, so we get pretty good treatment there. But often the best tables go to the French. The attraction default is french (when many times they are suppposed to survey the language needs and set the attraction to the one with the most speakers - HISTA, ToT etc.) And often the French are the ones who are asked if they would like to ride again.

DLP is not supposed to be like Tokyo or the US parks, it is supposed to be a pan European endeavour.

And some of the folks complaining here are just as French as a Hawaiian or Alaskan is American.

But still, you would think a business in France would employ French people first...

Just sayin...

I guess I really am missing your point.

Hawaiians and Alaskans *are* very much American.

In fact, a native Hawaiian is the President of the United States right now, AND an Alaskan was running for V.P. last year.

I guess I'm really missing your point here.

That's my point. Martinique and Tahiti et al have the same status as Hawaii has as being an American state. This investigation was looking at whether it was difficult for someone from Tahiti to get employed, and that they are mainly hiring whites.

Also, Europe is not like the rest of the world. THe EU means that whether you are from the UK, Poland or France, you are supposed to have equal rights to employment (kind of like if North America agreed that Mexicans, Canadians and Americans could work within each others' borders without restriction).

Ah...sorry!

I missed that part.

Guess I shouldn't post late at night when I'm really, really sleepy. ;)

My bad.
