So I just finished listening to the new LPPodcast (yes I know kind of a slowpoke)and they brought up Prince of Persia, and why was it being done by Disney and not Touchstone or Miramax etc. I'm not even going to try and state what the average age is around here or the actual age of any members (including members of the LPP)I however am 19, and have played every "major" Prince of Persia game (how lame am I?) so I feel I might be able to shed a little light and why they went this route.

As far as I know the original script was based off of the original game, but once Disney took over the project that script was tossed out. The new script is based off the 2nd "reboot" of the Series Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (also the name of the movie)

This game which included violence via sword fighting etc. however it featured almost no blood (I won't say it didn't have any blood as I can't honestly remember)Enemies when defeated simply turned into sand (which you would use for other specials)It was a fun game with an incredible gimmick, the ability to control time. As far as video games go I wouldn't consider it very violent...

However now we move onto this games dark, brooding, and angsty teen years. With sales not being what they wanted from the original game (many "gamers" concluded it was too kiddy) they decided to make the game darker in both Warrior Within and The Two Thrones. This moved away from all previous Prince of Persia titles which were mostly platform puzzle games. These two games focused on combat. Lots and lots of combat. They also moved from a Teen rating to a Mature rating.

After those two video games still not being what people wanted. The moved back too a more platform based game, and back to a T rating.

With that being said people tend to focus too much on the uber-violent versions of Prince of Persia, which are not what the games are remembered for. Since it is based off a T rated game it will most likely be Pirates level action, and I along with most people should be fine with that.
All times are Pacific Time (US)
