It appears to be the same program as the iTunes release (78min long, so there likely isn't much more), but now with lossless sound and accompanied by detailed liner notes.

It's been a lot of years since Randy Thornton first revealed this great, great soundtrack. (Who remembers Project Lazarus?) Great to finally see that this will see the light of day.

Agreed, it is great news to finally see this long prepared but unreleased (and then non-optimally released) restoration make it to CD at last.

The liner notes to "The Black Hole" reveal that this partnership with Intrada was pretty much entirely Thornton's idea as a way to finally get albums like this on to CD. He apparently cold called Doug Fake at Intrada out of the blue to propose the idea.

Intrada already had a business relationship with Disney from a number of previous released (both "Honey, I Shrunk" scores, "Something Wicked This Way Comes", and others), but those previous titles were straight licensing arrangements with Intrada then handling the album production. These recent co-branded discs are still considered to be Walt Disney Records releases, but with Intrada handling distribution, manufacturing, and marketing. In other words, Thornton is producing these albums for Intrada to release.

I was in the audience when Randy Thornton discussed those soundtracks he had managed to get produced, as well as announcing the 20,000 Leagues he had intended. His enthusiasm and passion really impressed me.

Got my 20,000 Leagues Woo! The packaging alone is worth five bucks! And then, to get the actual Whale of a Tale, instead of the alternate version--life is good.
