| oc_dean Mon 10/31/2011 7:14p | Who's going to Tern Ave in Fountain Valley tonight?
For those going - Who? What? Tern Ave, what? Fountain Valley huh???
Seems every year Fountain Valley resident: Dr. Tony Nobles hauls out the "Halloween" decorations like nobody else! But not just Halloween (ghosts, witches, bats) ... but very specific themes.
And it's not just his house .. but gets his neighbors in on the act. In fact .. turns a big chunk of Tern Ave. into a huge "party" .... that surely grabs National attention!
Last year it was a "Star Wars" theme. I was pretty amazed .. just minutes from my sister's home ... is this section off of Magnolia and Nightingale in Fountain Valley goes all out, like a "Walt Disney" at heart! I had no idea what I was in for, last year. As a theme park nut (Disneyland, Knott's, Etc) .. I felt like I was at a theme park!
So .. my sister thinks tonight is some "Fantasy" theme. And I'll just have to wait to see anything on the net later.
Here's a spread from last years ... Pretty amazing:

They do reveal that this year's theme is Haunted Fairy-tales.
Fountain Valley LPers should be quite thrilled to have this little bit of "Disneyland" once a year .. in their hometown. |

>>>>>> Dr. Nobles' Halloween, Fountain Valley
Every year Dr. Tony Nobles, a surgeon, entrepreneur and inventor, pays to have his block (the 8600 block of Tern Avenue off of Magnolia and Nightingale) transformed into a Halloween fantasy. Last year the theme was Star Wars and took an estimated 80 hours a week of planning and set up through the month of October and nearly $250,000 to complete. It included a Death Star that covered an entire house along with actors and animatronics to play out life-size scenes from each of the movies. This year's theme is Haunted Fairy Tales and you can expect lighting, sound effects, music, and characters from a rumored 27 different fairy tales and mazes. Hundreds go every year, so be sure to get there early; by sun down it's completely packed and parking is scarce. Dr. Nobles outdoes himself every year, and this will be spectacular! <<<<<< |

| poohbear14 Mon 10/31/2011 10:04p | I had no idea about this neighborhood until someone told be about it this afternoon. I stopped by around 5:40 and waited until 6:15 before they opened up the street for guests.
I was blown away by all the props and displays that were done. Several houses had Knotts Scary Farm-like displays inside makeshift rooms in driveways or front yards. Mind you these here huge sets. I didn't go into every one but some were not for little ones. (Lots of blood and gore). Kudos to the neighborhood for getting into the act and providing real live characters.
Yes, this years theme was haunted fairy tales. Among the displays I saw were
Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton version) Beauty and the Beast (with zombie hunters) Pinocchio The 3 Little Pigs with an animatronic wolf that blew down the straw and stick piggy houses. Maleficent Little Mermaid Little Red Riding Hood (Scary!) Hansel and Gretel (Scary too!) Snow White Cinderella (Ghostly with skeleton horse) Jack and the Beanstalk Shrek with the 3 Billy Goats Gruff The Woman who lived in a shoe.
There may have been others but I don't remember. Not sure how this can continue year after year. The neighborhood was really crowded! I was glad I got there early.
No pictures to post but really something to see!

As long as Dr. Nobles embodies the heart of Walt Disney .. and this - $$$$ .. it will continue. |
