This topic is for Discussion of Latest: D23′s Disneyland Off the Map Event on March 6th

For the person who's seen every nook and cranny of Disneyland D23 has created an event that will take you places you may not have been like Walt's apartment, the Lilly Belle and the Disneyland Dream Suite. See the link below for complete details.

So, folks - what do you think? After the shock of how much this sucker's going to cost wears off, would you go to this event? Would you join D23 to go to this event if you're not a member?

No way would I spend that amount of money on something like this. I would rather use it at the craps table.

What a rip off. This doesn't even include park admission! And the Lily Belle is free to ride, anyway.

Wow. That's a whole lot of money for dinner... somewhere. I'm going to guess it's the Blue Bayou.. but that seems REALLY steep to see these things. The Lilly Belle portion - let's hope they get a really good guide on their ride, who knows a TON about the car. Otherwise, this is one of those things that makes D23 seem like the poor man's version of Club 33 - bragging rights and not a bunch more for the money. Oh, and those gifts ought to be like Grammy / Oscar goodie bag good! *LOL*

Dinner won't be the Blue Bayou, as they mention it includes "drinks." I would guess for an event of this caliber they are looking at Napa Rose.

The park admission really should be included at this price point. Perhaps they anticipate that the folks who are looking at this are mainly SoCal members, who almost certainly have APs.

The Lilly Belle is not readily available, unless you know what you are doing (like those who ask here at LP!). It does strike me as odd that they cannot guarantee that part of the experience if it is raining.

No argument that the visit to Walt's Apartment is very cool. For some, this would be the SOLE reason to jump on this. The Dream Suite is also a lure, even if it is not exactly what Walt had designed before he passed away.

If they added the basketball half court inside the Matterhorn, I'd be very tempted. Too bad I really can't afford it right now...

I would guess the dining spot is either Napa Rose or Club 33.

Even so - awfully expensive. I've seen really good pics of Walt's apartment and the Dream Suite, so it's not a big secret what they look like, and can't see paying $250 just to step inside.

If dinner was to be at Club 33, I'm sure it would be mentioned in the description, as that's a HUGE selling point. As it is, there's only one potential draw for me (the apartment), and even that just isn't worth it for me.

It makes sense that they wouldn't do the Lilly Belle if it's raining, since it's standard park procedure to not let anyone in, to protect the carpet. If it does rain, it might be nice to take the group back to the roundhouse to get a unique up-close look at the car (and potentially some other really cool train stuff), without actually going in it.

The good thing about the $250 is that I'm not even remotely tempted to do it. I'm sure it will sell out, since these sorts of things always do, but I think it may take longer than they expect to get there (are events still filling up in a few seconds, like when D23 first started?).

@ DlandDoug (#7)"Dinner won't be the Blue Bayou, as they mention it includes "drinks." I would guess for an event of this caliber they are looking at Napa Rose."

You're right, that's more likely, but as I mentioned when the changes came to the liquor licenses, my theory is that the new holding of the license WOULD enable them to serve elsewhere in the park - they just haven't done it yet. ;)

"The park admission really should be included at this price point. Perhaps they anticipate that the folks who are looking at this are mainly SoCal members, who almost certainly have APs."
I'd have to agree. But, being an AP doesn't include being D23 and vice versa - something I think they REALLY ought to take a look at.

"The Lilly Belle is not readily available, unless you know what you are doing (like those who ask here at LP!). It does strike me as odd that they cannot guarantee that part of the experience if it is raining."
I'm with FerretAfros on this one - it's about keeping the car dry.

"No argument that the visit to Walt's Apartment is very cool. For some, this would be the SOLE reason to jump on this. The Dream Suite is also a lure, even if it is not exactly what Walt had designed before he passed away."
Yep, but even at that, it's still a very overpriced tour and dinner package, unless they are going to do something REALLY stellar for dinner, AND those gifts are $$$.

If they added the basketball half court inside the Matterhorn, I'd be very tempted. Too bad I really can't afford it right now...
